Had a perfect night at Knobbs Flat, particularly the Bush Bath and hearing the nature and the silence of the place. Very approachable and nice staff.

We stayed here two nights while visiting Te Anau and Milford Sound. Unfortunately we booked in advance so we had to stay here. The place was hard to find to begin with. When we arrived it didn't look as good as on their website pictures, the room was small and the bathroom was very dirty. We booked for 3 persons yet still there were only 2 towels. It all was a little out dated and worn. The only nice thing was the shared kitchen where we met other travelers with whom we shared food and travel tips.
At the reception basic things were sold like bread and eggs (as basic as bread & eggs can be) biscuits and shampoo, as there is no store nearby.

Stayed here as we were prepared to hike the Milford track as we thought its proximity to the track would be a bonus however there were no advantages over staying in Te Anau.

We stayed in the motel section. Room was very basic and old but everything worked. No bar or restaurant so we had to drive into Te Anau to get a meal. Place was deserted although we were there in the shoulder season. We had planned to stay a second night but bailed. Mentioned we had stayed there to a bus driver who informed us the locals call the place 'fawlty towers'. Would not recommend it unless desperate.

Booked in here for one night on way back from Milford Sound trip. No food available and the bar was shut. Room was clean but decor was 'tired' (in need of a refurb if rumours not true). Booked out and got a refund. Manager was apologetic and the refund was not an issue. It felt like a morgue (eerie).
Would not attempt to stay there again.
