It's a homy, clean and luminous place, with an extremely, extremly friendy and helpful staff.
More than recommended!!

Stayed 2 nights in the deluxe double room with shared bathroom. Room is so small that we could barely walk. And the walls are thin. They were so thin that I could hear someone from the next door hanging their clothes or plugging the plugs.

Kitchen is quite clean. Service is also average. However, location is good.

Good location in the small town of Te Anau - short walk to shops and to lake. Good place to stay when heading out to Milford sound. Helpfulness of staff seemed to vary depending on who you spoke to but were generally nice. Stayed in double ensuite room. Quite spacious and clean. Good sized kitchen which was clean as well. Free parking.

We stayed in a Double Deluxe, which was actually housed in a separate building with two rooms, our own living and dining room, as well as a kitchen and shared bath/toilet facilities. Whilst we were the only ones in the house and the other room was not occupied, we did not enjoy our stay. The first thing that hit us when we entered was a stale stench throughout the house, as if it has been not aired. The toilet leaked, and the heaters (apart from the bathroom which was the warmest room in the house) were not working properly and we were freezing throughout our stay. The bed was lumpy, and my hubby had a rash after our stay here.

The location was good - central and convenient. But apart from that, nothing much to recommend it. We stayed at three different hostels during our trip in NZ. This was the only YHA owned, and our least favourite. The room and wifi was the most expensive of the three, and we were not required to strip our own beds and pillows for the other two independant backpackers.
