We stayed in a Double Deluxe, which was actually housed in a separate building with two rooms, our own living and dining room, as well as a kitchen and shared bath/toilet facilities. Whilst we were the only ones in the house and the other room was not occupied, we did not enjoy our stay. The first thing that hit us when we entered was a stale stench throughout the house, as if it has been not aired. The toilet leaked, and the heaters (apart from the bathroom which was the warmest room in the house) were not working properly and we were freezing throughout our stay. The bed was lumpy, and my hubby had a rash after our stay here.

The location was good - central and convenient. But apart from that, nothing much to recommend it. We stayed at three different hostels during our trip in NZ. This was the only YHA owned, and our least favourite. The room and wifi was the most expensive of the three, and we were not required to strip our own beds and pillows for the other two independant backpackers.

Good location walking distance to shops and restaurant and the lake but as we reserved a seperate double room and recieved a room for four, we were not so pleased, accomodations quit old, but very clean, sometimes not enough parking space, bur adjacent street parking is free too.

Perfect stopping point, good parking, near town and lake (not that anywhere is far away in Te Anau!), good kitchen facilities and would definitely recommend.

I stayed for a night just recently. I had a twin sharing room on the ground floor and it was really warm and comfy despite the freezing temperature outside. The kitchen was spacious, the lounge, dining area and tv room too were comfy. I enjoyed my stay there lots!
