we booked four double rooms. they were spacious enough, extremely clean, ground floor, quiet and close to each other (as requested) there was a garden full of roses and an outdoor table and chairs to share drinks at the end of the day. after looking at all the restaurants in te anau we opted for the one at the hotel. the food was great. the italian waiter was fun and the view from the big windows overlooking the lake was the icing on the cake. thoroughly recommend for a night or two. ps visit doubful sound instead of millford

Whoever is going to New Zealand and looking for a nice holiday I would recommend two places to spend the time. Queenstown and Te Anu. The trip from Queenstown to Te Anu is absolutely mind blowing. Now if you are making this trip to Milford Sound and Glow worm caves at Te Anu make sure you spend couple of days at Te Anu.

The Kingsgate hotel is something that one can easily rely on. Both in terms of price and quality. The guys out there are very friendly and extremely efficient. Had very nice stay there.

Make sure you don't miss the Glow worm caves trip and also the cruise trip at Milford sound.

I was so satisfied with the hotel that also at Auckland I chose the same. Had great time there too. Would love to visit this place again and again.

It's was OK to stay for couple nights. We booked 3 rooms & all bathrooms were beautifully updated. The only downsize of the bathroom is too bright & too hot when switching on the halogen lights. The beds are OK but too soft for us. The motel room was roomy but dated. The carpet smell was quite strong but we can't open windows as sandflies might come in. If fly-screen installed, it would be a perfect stay.

the room was large and very comfortable, with good lighting. it had a fridge and tv with 6 channels. some rooms face the lake, which is very pretty. but it's a ways to walk into town for shops and restaurants.
