Lovely hosts, very friendly and helpful. The bed was one of the softest I have ever slept in and we over slept and was late for breakfast! Great location within walking distance of Queenstown centre. The view is amazing.

This B&B sits on high ground, approximately 5 minute’s drive from the centre of Queenstown and offers spectacular views of the Remarkable Mountains. On arrival, we were met by John who showed us to our room on the ground floor which offered commanding views of the bay and had its own little terrace with table and chairs. Tea/coffee facilities and a small TV helped make the room feel like a home. The ensuite bathroom is sufficiently big with a shower, clean towels and under-floor heating!!

Our hosts provided valuable tourist information and assisted with the booking of trips. We used this to our advantage and John arranged a helicopter trip for us to Mount Cook. Continental breakfast was available at a time of our choosing on each day of our stay and both hosts were very attentive ensuring sufficient supplies of tea/coffee, toast etc.

All in all, it’s a thumbs up to Birchall House. If you’re looking for a decent, spotlessly clean B&B and kind hosts, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

This was possibly our best stay during our trip around NZ. Located half way between the airport and the centre of Queenstown (10 minutes drive either way), Birchall House is perched up the hill, set back from the main road with great views over the lake. A very comfortable stay with very accommodating hosts who put on a great breakfast. We loved Queenstown and hope to return in the not too distant future. If we do, we will definitely stay here again.

This is a small B& B run by John & Joan, who are retired sheep farmers. The property was custom built as a B&B. Accommodation is down stairs in a nice Room with a Queen size bed, sitting area and cooking facilities, with separate toilet and bathroom. A good clean set-up, with fabulous views of the lake and mountains, especially at sunrise! Parking is at the top of the property, as the house is built going down the side of the hill. We had an excellent stay there, further accommodation is another twin room, further along the veranda, with its fabulous views!
