“Delightful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We rented two rooms on the first floor which included a living/kitchen area. It was perfect for a family. We had access to a lovely outdoor table as well as more lounge space upstairs. The views are spectacular and everything was clean and comfortable. Our bedroom had a terrific whirlpool tub that was great for sore muscles following a day of adventure.

The host were kind, helpful, and prepared a delicious breakfast. The walk into town takes just a few minutes. However, the walk from town is up a steep hill which is a little difficult to navigate after a night out but it is also a quick and inexpensive cab ride. As previously mentioned, the views are worth the extra altitude.

“Fabulous views, good value.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

My husband and I spent 7 nights at Balmoral Lodge from 3rd-10th February, 2012. Our Lakeview Queen room had fabulous views right over Queenstown, Lake Wakitipu and the mountains. The hosts were very friendly and helpful and we were offered cooked breakfasts every morning which were beautiful. The walk downtown only takes less than 10 minutes. Although we are both Seniors we walked back up the hill quite a few times which is a little steep in parts but we managed quite well and for the views it was well worth it. Our room was lovely and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom was great and there was always plenty of hot water. Our room even had a walk in closet which was very handy for bags etc. The only criticism we had was that the TV was a really tiny old style one which was only about 12"-14" so that was a bit disappointing. A larger modern flat screen TV about 51cm would have easily fitted on the shelf where the little TV was. There was however a Guest Lounge which had a Large TV. The Lodge also had a large room with a Pool table. We hired a rental car for the last 3 days of our stay and there was plenty off street parking at the Lodge which was a big plus. Overall a very lovely stay in a very scenic location.

Room Tip: Our room was very sunny for most of the day so would be a big bonus in Winter.

“unhelpful and rude”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I had booked this place on a website for new years eve 2011. Turned up about 3 pm on NYE
to be informed by the owner that they had no booking for me. I had paid in full
and had a print out of all the confirmation details. Owner was extremely unhelpful and rude , even suggesting that I was the person
in the wrong and had the incorrect place.. It was obvious either she or the website had made the mistake.
I can understand mistakes sometimes happen with bookings but it was the owners attitude to the situation which annoyed me the most.
My advice is think twice about booking here or you could be in for a shock and an even lighter wallet than you expect.

It is a shame you decided to falsify what happened, you arrived on new years eve at 4.30pm with a prepaid reservation, which took us by surprise as we had no record of it and were full, I sat at the computer for approx 45 minutes while you stood there to track the reservation through the appropriate live sites, plus checked all incomming ,outgoing emails and even deleted items, and found no record of the reservation. as we were full I then rang a couple of accommodations, which informed me they were full, so I then directed you to the Queenstown Isite visitor centre as they would find you accommodation very quickly as they usually have all vacancies available in Queenstown. To suggest I was rude and unhelpful is untrue.you stated in your own review you did not know who made the mistake ,I am sorry you did not get to experience the wonderfull kiwi hospitality that we offer or the fabulous breakfasts that so many others have thoroughly enjoyed .
