A friend and I booked a hotel room for our 12 day stay in Queenstown and were very pleased that we could see the lake from our room and even had a small balcony!We had two single beds and really,for us,the room was plently big enough.
The kitchenette is very basic and only includes a toaster and kettle. Some of our power points didn't work though, and house keeping only sometimes did our dishes.
House keeping was pretty average, our floors only got vacummed once or twicey b and not very well.They didn't wipe down our benches or anything and sometimes didn't give us enough new towels. Beds were made every day though.
The lake is not too far at all and there is stairs and a path. Don't get excited about the gym, it's pretty basic and didn't really interest us anyway. Be prepared to wait for the laundry facilities, and to pay $1 per sachet of powder. There are only two machines down in the basement.
The BBQ area is really good. We sat down there a few nights in a row, lovely views and the BBQ was very easy to use for us girls!!There is no charge for the BBQ area, and tools are provided. Bring your own oil and paper towels though!
It is too far to walk to and from town everyday unless you are very fit! Buses leave every 15 minutes from the bus stop near the hotel and we used them daily. We walked in a few times as it is down hill but bussed it back mostly!!!Cheap and easy!
We were so busy that we didn't eat at the hotel and didn't really need to call on reception for much. My friend accidently broke a glass and reception noted this but never replaced it.
Enjoyed our stay,but we were not in the hotel much, although could have been improved by better house keeping.

We found furnishings of good standard. The lake side views were perfect, easy access down to the lake and within walking distance along the shore to Queenstown.

We stayed here as part of our Honeymoon, and WOW what a place! The location is just spectacular overlooking the lake and mountains. Our room was simply wonderful, it totally made our holiday, beautiful views, spotlessly clean and spacious, with every amenity available (including a kitchen area, and a log fire). The staff were so friendly and accomodating, and it was a lovely touch to present us with a glass of sparkling wine to celebrate our recent wedding, whilst in the restaurant. The food was just great and very reasonably priced.
Highly recommend for location, as could easily access the town by bus, or a beautiful short walk around the lake. We will definately return!

Recently stayed at Oaks Shores with my wife for 5 nights. Upon arrival the man on the front desk set the tone for the rest of our stay - he was completely disinterested.

We stayed in a hotel room - this came with 'tea and coffee' making facilities. There was a small bar fridge, and toaster. If you wanted to wash any dishes you had to use the bathroom sink which would drain incredibly slowly.

In the morning you'll hear doors slamming as house keeping come and go from the other apartments - it was so bad the bed's headboard would rattle. Also it's very easy to hear your neighbours (interconnecting doors).

The shower head in our bathroom was also broken (water would gush out in a big spout) and after reporting it to reception on the Sunday it was still broken when we checked out on Wednesday morning.

TV is tiny and the remote was a universal one - it would take about 10 seconds to change channel and you could only advance one channel at a time.

On the plus side the price is reasonable considering it's Queenstown. There is a BBQ you can use outside, but again there was nothing to clean the hot plate with. Free parking downstairs. View of the lake/mountain available even from the cheapest room
