Stayed here in a tent over Christmas, having prebooked for 4 nights as we thought accommodation in Queenstown would be hard to get. Within about an hour we decided to shorten our stay to 3 nights, partly because of this place, partly because Queenstown just seemed very artificial after all the other places we'd been.
We paid NZ$45 a night, the most we paid anywhere in NZ, and then found out showers were $2 per 6min (for hot water - cold is free if you can handle it, but it is cold), laundry $4 for washes and $4 for drying. It seemed a bit of an affront given the high cost of the sites, which are quite close together as others have indicated. We had massive jumbo-sized family tents right on either side and could hear our neighbours' conversations taking place.
For some reason this also seemed to be a very noisy campground. It was just little things, not out of control late night revellers. The crowd here seemed different to other places we stayed, and it felt like people made very little effort to keep the noise down for their neighbours. Campervan owners would slam doors (this can be done more quietly than it usually is), yell out across the campground at inappropraite hours, people would stand around chatting outside your tent at midnight or conduct loud mobile phone phone conversations - that sort of thing. We had to use our ear plugs every night. That's obviously beyond the control of the proprietors, but I feel it worth mentioning.
The location is undeibaly excellent, being about 5min from the centre of Queenstown, and about 3min from the gondola, so it was nice not to have to worry about parking the car, and we felt we could come and go from town as we pleased.
The communal kitchen is good and has plenty of tables and sinks etc. This was useful at times when the weather was poor. The bathrooms are of good standard and were well kept, but again, paying $2 for some hot water on top of my $45 - not amusing.
