We were "upgraded" to a room but the heater did not work. When we mentioned it, they did not offer a replacement but said will deduct 25 bucks which we really did not care for. The frontdesk was helpful at times and not so helpful at others. It really depends on the person. The rooms with the view has a really really long walk to front desk. The view was great. When we told the cleaning lady to come after sometime, she was pretty mad and insisted on a time when we would get out which i thought was pretty rude. It's a decent hotel with good view and depending on the person, you get good service. Overall, i would say, this hotel could be great but something seems to be missing.

On our two weeks tour of The South Island this was probably the best hotel and location of all the places we visited. The room with it's stunning lake view and mountain backdrop was simply perfect. Plenty of space with all the amenities we wanted (tea making, fridge basic minibar etc) and an excellent modern bathroom and walk in shower and everything kept spotlessly clean. Contrary to some others comments we found the hotel in the area we were located in to be very quiet and tranquil.
The front desk staff were helpful in suggesting excursions etc.
We didn't eat in the hotel so can't comment on that though we did visit the bar which was a little lacking in atmosphere which is the only slight negative we had of an otherwise excellent stay.
The hotel is conveniently located out of the centre of QT with its lively bars and great variety of restaurants. QT is an excellent base to explore the beauty of this special region with day excursions, lake voyages or engage in a multitude of outdoor sports. Every need is catered for. The nearby gardens provide a number of gentle walks around the penninsular with pretty views of the waterfront and sailing activities.
We'd thoroughly recommend this hotel and location for old and young alike.

We stayed her for for nights, great room, awesome views. The in house attractions organiser was great and really helpful in suggesting what to see. Would definitely stay again.

We got a good deal on this hotel, but in hindsight would pay more for better accomodation. We stayed there for one night before moving on to Millbrook for 4 nights.
The beds were the worst I have slept on; the pillows even worse. The airconditioning was set for the whole hotel so there is no individual airconditioning in the rooms. It was set way too high, so we were very hot during the night. Unfortunately we could not open the windows as there was a storm that night.
There were a lot of young children running up and down the passageways at night, yelling at the top of their voices with no parents in sight to control them. I have 2 children of my own and realise what is acceptable in a hotel.
The water pressure is also terrible.
Give this hotel a miss.
