“I could stay forever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

Blanket Bay, Queenstown, NZ is one of the MOST beautiful places we have ever been.
New Zealand is a big secret and once you discover it you want to go back many times. The scenery takes you breath away. the waterfalls, the hiking trails and the rocky beaches make for a perfect quiet getaway. It is an artist heaven and a diners dream. A true and memorial experience.

Room Tip: The Earnslaw suite is beautiful with views of the mountains and lake.

“utterly wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

We absolutely loved Blanket Bay. Amazing setting, wonderful food, great set-up (pre-dinner drinks with the other guests works really well), fantastic excursions (helicopter trip not to be missed). If only it weren't a 24 hour flight away...

“Fabulous! One of the nicest hotels in the world.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

When we arrived at Blanket Bay, we knew we wanted to stay longer than the 2 nights we were booked. Simply breathtaking, from the moment you enter the gorgeous driveway leading down to the lodge .....We live in an amazing home, and this is one of the few properties we've stayed in that could compete with our home.....Beautiful rooms, spacious, large bathrooms, wonderful furnishings. Every corner we turned in the property was perfect, even the neat stacks of wood for the fireplace. The food was superb and there are lots of activities both on the property and nearby in Glenorchy. We also stayed at Matakauri nearer to Queenstown, and debated changing hotels since this one is about 35 minutes away, but it was a good decision because the activities in both Queenstown and Glenorchy require exploration and driving back and forth would have been a bit tedious. We used Blanket Bay as a base for a one-day out and back hike on Routeburn (up to the Falls) and also some great horseback riding. Next time we'll stay at least four or five nights!!
Absolutely five star in every way, including service, which was personal and attentive. Superb.

Room Tip: We had a room on the end and a private patio, which was spectacular.

“A perfect escape a few miles from Paradise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

The Mount Earnslaw suite was so spacious and relaxing, that all we could do was to extend our stay.
There is no greater vote of confidence.

We wanted privacy, space, and comfort in a lake and mountain setting. We got such a spectacular setting that the famed Milford Sound paled in comparison.

The Over the Top helicopter charter to Milford Sound and Glacier Landing was also excellent as was the Dart River Jet Boat , both collect from the lodge making it all easy. Highly recommended.

The location is the star here and is literally a few kilometers from Paradise a place without
a single shop and that alone is worth paying for.

Yes the food the service and all of rest doesn't disappoint either but it's the scenery and the peacefulness which is unforgettable.

“Iconic - New Zealand's Best of the Best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 May 2011

Having had the privilege of staying at a number of New Zealand’s luxury lodges Blanket Bay had a lot to live up to. The property is simply iconic and in a league of its own. The setting, the lodge, the cuisine, the service - all just superb and I would assume many of the other lodges around New Zealand could only aspire to. The thought and care that must have gone into planning this property is simply immense. Congratulations, simply spectacular.

Room Tip: Try and book the wine cave for an intimate dinner
