“Nice place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 March 2011

Spent one nite recently and found the hotel to be very nice. Not spectacular but certainly a very pleasant experience. We had one of their highend rooms on the third floor and it was very roomy with all the amenities that one would expect. The hotel is a classic old building and of course the rooms and common areas reflect this. Trudy and Eoin were very nice and helpful. Thank God Eoin and his daughter carried all our luggage up to our room since there are no elevators. We met a number of other tourists in their cozy little bar and had a nice dinner in their restaurant. Prking could be a problem since the parking structure next door is closed at nite. We parked across the street in aparking lot. Worked out fine. My wife and I really enjoyed our short stay.

“Very Pleasant Experience: We highly recommend.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 March 2011

This charming, elegant hotel was a delight to experience. The owners, Trudy and Eian, were personally attentive. The bed was the most comfortable we enjoyed in our 5-week New Zealand vacation and the evening meal prepared for us by Eian was among the finest we had in NZ.

“Not the cleanest hotel we have stayed at”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 February 2011

Overall, it was acceptable for one night. We had one of their most expensive rooms on the top floor which is 3 levels up with no elevator. Not fun with luggage. Location is fine in the center of town more or less and there is parking across the street in the YMCA lot.

Biggest issue is the room and the hotel overall smelled old and musty, like a old trunk that has not been opened in years. And the room specifically wasn't clean enough, like mold on the shower curtain and such. When pointed out to the owners they did not seem concerned.

Overall it was acceptable but I cant recommend it.

“What a friendly welcome!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2011

Very friendly welcome - with plenty of tips for getting the most out of our short stay in Invercargill. The hotel was quiet - and we got upgraded to one of the top rooms, without asking.

A great place to stay and relax with great owner's Trudy and Eian. They looked after me from as soon as I walk in untill the day I left 4 weeks later. It would be the only place I stay In Invercargill. Thankyou Trudy,Eian and Kelsey
