“Beautifully presented rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

This is the best Quest premises I have stayed at in NZ. It helps that the rooms are housed in the former General Post Office building, right in the centre of Invercargill, but the room we had was magnificent: high-stud ceilings, zoned air-conditioning, modern kitchenette and laundry, lovely speced bathroom. It was very, very nice and well worth the $130/night we paid to stay a weekend without booking. Theyu have room charge back facilities with many local restaurants so that was very useful. Ample car parking on the side of the hotel too was good. I recommend this place to anyone who visits Invercargill. The only negative thing is the proximity to the local night clubs and bars and the hub-bub of partying locals at their local drinking holds, but the people-watching was also entertaining for a cold Saturday night. I wish all hotel accommodations were of this very high standard. Thank you very much Quest Invercargill.

Room Tip: Choose a room not one facing the main street.

“EXCELLENT SERVICE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Stayed for a week in Quest Invercargill, and could not fault the place. Was immaculate rooms, stunning customer service, and absolutely beautiful rooms. It was situated right in the middle of the CBD which made everything easily accessible. I was able to get a meal within a minute's walking distance, and charge this back to my room, which made everything so much easier for me.
I HIGHLY recommend Quest Invercargill to anybody who is wanting high quality accommodation and service.

Room Tip: All rooms are immaculate

“Good for a weekend or business trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

I stay here regularly for work. I have always been impressed with the service and the friendliness of the staff. Breakfast packs are a complete waste of money, but go to Tuatara Café just along the street for excellent scrambled eggs. In many of the rooms the floors are squeaky, which is quite annoying, but if you get a quiet one it's fine. Disabled showers will totally soak the bathroom so ask for a unit with an enclosed shower. Good quality soap, it's one of my favourites. They have chargeback facilities for meals at many local restaurants which, if you're travelling for business, is a great feature.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the roads, because it can be extremely noisy with boys in their cars on a F...

“The best of Invercargill...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

That's not saying much. Our stay in Invercargill was just passing through before flying over to Stewart Island, and if I had it to do again, I wouldn't stay in Invercargill at all. This hotel is in a beautiful, historic building, and they've done a lot to make the suites comfortable. The room was clean, but the bathroom was quite dated, although it had everything we needed. Because of the age of the building, the floorboards were very noisy - this meant we could hear everyone else on our floor when they moved around. Considering how much was obviously spent on renovating the building, it seems strange that nothing was done about this considerable issue. I think the Qualmark 5 stars aren't really worth the same as 5 stars elsewhere. In any other city in the world this would be a 3.5-4 star hotel at most. It's location would be handy to restaurants and shops, but as we were there on New Year's Day, our choice for food was Speight's Ale House or Speight's Ale House. All of the restaurants the hotel had a chargeback arrangement with were closed, along with all of the shops nearby. The charge for wireless internet was very high.

“Just OK”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

We stayed here for one night in December 2011. The reception staff member went through the motions but didn't appear particularly pleased to see us. The room was spacious and had everything we needed but the cleanliness let it down. There was dust and dirt around the edges of the room and bathroom, and the windows were very dirty. I realise that this is an old building but it could definitely be a bit cleaner. There were dirty coffee cups in the cupboard. The duvet cover was made from a black velvet and woollen fabric and did not look very appealing. The curtains had small slashes in them and the blind was made from light, ineffective material. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. The staff member at check-out was much friendlier than the staff member we had encountered the night before. Would we stay again? Maybe, maybe not!
