The Ashlar is one of the friendliest motels I've stayed in: Mahays is very welcoming, and makes sure her guests have everything they need. She went the extra mile when we asked for a late check-out after we met family members off a very early flight and they needed to crash for a while before we continued on our way. The location is really good; close to the central city and gardens, and the units are set back from the road, so it's nice and quiet. Some of the rooms are of an older style, but they do have everything you need. Recommended.

Was sent by work to Invercargill, who also frequently book myself and my clients into Ashlar Motel after several years of flawless experience with them I have finally decided to write a review.
Mahays goes the extra mile for both myself and my clients and she is forever bending over backwards. The incident that has finally spurred me to write this review was recently when my wife and children showed up to surprise me on our aniversary and though there were no vacancies in the motel, Mahays was kind enough to not only let the children stay in the family house with herself, but entertained them and fed them while I wined and dined my beautiful wife.

Just one of the few examples i have of the generous nature of Mahays. I always look forward to my stay here.

This motel was booked for a weekend away with freinds to go to a international sports event, on our arrival the owners where no where to be seen, after numerous phone calls and attemps to contact them we had no luck. We had to ring around and try and find another motel which we did but was not easy because of invercargill being fairly full due to the sports event on!! This cost us time and money!! We did get a call from the Ashler but not until two days later when we where told we had book friday and saturday nights which we hadnt it was saturday and sunday!! a big muck up was made by Ashler ,with still no apoglogy from them!! wont go back there ever

I must admit, when my husband posed the idea of travelling to Invercargill for a holiday I was not overly excited about the destination but our stay with Mahes at Ashlar motel made our entire holiday quite special. She has an eye for detail and perfection which showed in both our absolutely SPOTLESS units but the part that made us fall in LOVE with her is that she is the single most lovely and sincere, genuine person I have met and i think we've truly made a good friend! She even greeting us on our arrival with some home baking her daughter had made! We will definitely be coming back to Invercargill, if only to visit Mahes and her delightful Dog!
