“Good but needs refurbishment”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 March 2011

Here just for overnight stay. We arrived about 6pm to find no one in reception and had to go looking, not a great start in the pouring rain. Nice friendly welcome though. Large studio with queen and single bed, sofa and t.v. Microwave was on dressing table, fridge, kettle (tea/coffee etc) and toaster by sink unit. Shower room with separate toilet, a very big step up to shower which we thought not great with a slippy floor. This was perhaps the least appealing of our motels, it needs a refurbishment but having said that it was very clean and tidy and was well equipped. The only motel we stayed however which didn't have a hairdryer. Rather disappointed that the restaurant was closed as this was one of the reasons we booked here, but were given advice on local places to eat and went Ziffs Restaurant a few miles away which was excellent.

“Welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 March 2011

We stopped here for one night in January, we were touring the south island and found this Hotel a very handy stop off point.
We were made to feel very welcome, and the owners were very helpful.
There is plenty of parking and the meal at night was very nice.
The rooms were very big and clean.
We paid $115 for the room and we would recommend this Hotel.

“worth staying here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2009

A group of us stayed here for two nights while our children were competing in an equestrian event in Invercargill. We found the owners and staff to be friendly and helpful, and the rooms were warm, clean and comfortable. Because we were only there two nights we didn't expect our beds to be made for us after thr first night. Also , we were travelling in large horse trucks and finding suitable parking can sometimes be difficult, but the owner was very accommodating and provided off street parking. We will return here and recommend this place to others.

“Spacious, clean accomodations - a good value!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 April 2005

We spent one night here in March 2005. We stayed in a one-bedroom unit for NZ$75. Though not much to look at from the outside, the interior was a warm, pleasant space. There was ample space, it was quite clean, and it exceeded our expectations.

The one-bedroom unit came a master bedroom with double bed, with a second bed in the living room/TV area. See photos. Fully equipped kitchen. Fresh milk provided at check-in. There is a restaurant onsite, and delivery to the room is available, but we did not take advantage. It is a short drive into the town center. Groceries, fuel, etc., are right at the doorstep.

Considering the motel's location on a busy road, it was surprisingly quiet. No complaints of road noise.

This motel was a Lonely Planet recommendation, and one we would heartily endorse.
