My sister and I took our elderly parents to the Oyster Festival in Bluff and as such stayed at the Homestead Villa Motel on Dee Street in Invercargill. The Homestead is close enough to walk to town and is fully self contained with modern and comfortable furnishings, fixtures and fittings. The place is clean and well run with friendly and efficient staff. The only poor point is their sister property across the road called Homestead Cobb and Co which has very noisey public bars facing the Motel which make it quite difficult to sleep at night. With loud yelling and drunks reving their cars and screaming off into the night it is a real draw back so ask for an appartment/room away from the Cobb and Co. If you are thinking of eating at the Cobb and Co I suggest you give it a miss and check out one of the many good restaurants in Invercargill. Suggestions by best in my oppinion, Cabbage tree, Waxy O'shea"s Irish Restaurant and Bar and finally Flannagans for seafood. By the way the Bluff Festival was poorly organised in facilities far too small to cater for the number of people attending, so much so that it was extremely difficult to get through the throngs of people to check out the food.
