We were warmly welcomed by Debbie who had a lively, bubbly personality.
The motel is situated about a 20 minute stroll from the centre of Invercargill. There was a pub/restaurant opposite the motel but it was not open for breakfast. Alternatives for eating out were in the centre.
We had an upstairs one bedroom apartment with a spa bath. The main room was large and had two sofas, table & chairs, and a kitchenette. The toilet was in a separate room accessed via the bathroom. The spa bath was good. The shower was over the bath with a unidirectional lever to control both water pressure and temperature. You could not adjust one without changing the other. The showerhead had very limited movement and the water temperature always started at cold. Whilst acknowledging the safety feature of starting at cold it was difficult to avoid a cold shower initially.
The bedroom had two double beds but personally I found the mattress too soft for my liking. There was adequate storage space if you wanted to unpack.
A hair dryer was on a shelf under the basin. Both items were covered in dust and had never been cleaned for weeks. Indeed, moving the hair dryer left a white patch on the shelf. We did not raise the matter with any staff to see if it was picked up during the daily clean but it was the same when we checked out. The rest of the apartment was clean.
In general the staff were friendly and helpful.
Not sure if we would stay there again as we would like somewhere closer to the centre of town.
