Like a lot of folks we visited Invercargill because of its location not its charms. Driving through the city Centre I dispaired of finding anything inviting. Even Tayesta did not look much from the road as you approach through a narrow entrance. From the moment we entered reception my gloom lifted, A warm welcome, Free magazines to take with us when we left, free Wifi, given loads of info, even managed to make Invercargill sound exciting. The room was very clean and functional and the bathroom was acceptable. A nice breakfast tray was available. Its a bit out of town, 25 mins walk at least. I have no hesitation in recommending Tayesta

We struggled in Invercargill for upmarket hotels, so on the strength of tripadvisor reviews, we chose the Comfort Inn we really weren't expecting much. Despite the fact, we had a view of the wheelie bins and clothes line, the actual rooms were spotless. Bedroom with comfy bed and electric blanket, not a great deal of space but we were only there for 1 night. Dated furniture, tiny tv but it didn't matter as the place was so clean and well equipped. We ended up using the kitchen facilities and were pleased with all the utensils. Supermarket amd park nearby. Despite the fact, it was practically booked out, it was noise free and we couldn't hear the traffic, so all in all a rested stay. Stuart was able advise scenic routes for our next leg of the journey.

Everything we needed for a comfortable nights rest. Perhaps the best bathroom for any motel we stayed in during our tour of New Zealand. The manager, Stuart, was a most helpful person. Overall this motel is very good value for the price. However, not much to do in Invercargill as a tourist.

I was so impressed with the motel. All of my expectations were exceeded. The unit was clean and had all amenities needed. Beds were comfy also! Thats a bonus. Owners were very friendly and helpful. The motel was a "hop, skip and jump" to the hockey turf which is why we were there and if you didnt have a car you could easily walk to the city centre without any problems.
