“Great place for Dunedin”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

My husband and I spent two nights in this wonderful, contemporary and clean motel in the city centre of Dunedin.
Location: in the heart of Dunedin. Walking distance to the university and beautiful botanical gardens, worth seeing train station and lots of cafes, restaurants and pubs.
Staff: very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable couple.
Highly recommened for quiet people who appreciate central location, good service and some personal touch.

“Perfect for City Centre Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

Firstly if you're interested to book this property, email your query to the owners directly and do not just go by the online booking. When we checked the rates online it was much higher compared to what was quoted by the owners via email. As we had 3 young children with us the auto rate calculator added extra for more than 2 people but when we emailed the owners they quoted a straight per room rate that was lower. We were happy to deal with the owners via email and they provided good and prompt service. However when we arrived at the motel, we didn't get the opportunity to meet the owners as they were on holidays but their caretaker, Alan, did a wonderful job standing in for them! And this for someone who does it only occasionally for the owners.

The Euro motel was our first stop from our international flight arrival and we were very pleased they could accommodate our early arrival, which we certainly needed to help with our jet lag. We did however request this in advance.

We stayed in the one bedroom apartment no. 105 that faced the neighbouring building, also part of the Euro motel, so we had the blinds in our room down partially for privacy. This neighbouring building housed the reception on the ground floor and has a flight of steps to climb to get to the rooms. The building we were in did however have lifts from ground floor level so be sure to specify room with lift access if you need it.

Our apartment had a well appointed king size bedroom that was very comfortable and a free portacot with linen set up in the bedroom for our baby. In the lounge/living area two comfortable single beds were set up separately for our other two children. We did not have a room with a balcony but I believe it's because our room was bigger to accommodate the extra two single beds. Even with this set up, plus equipped kitchenette with fridge, freezer, dishwasher, m/wave, stove, etc, the apartment felt spacious enough and bright, and one we were very happy to return to after each outing. The modern shower room had full laundry facilities and again was nice and bright. There was a SKY TV and DVD player (in the lounge at least) in the bedroom and the lounge, which was great as the kids could be easily entertained when indoors. For a motel this place far exceeded our expectation and easily outdoes its hotel competitors. We really felt we were in a very good, comfortable apartment and not just a motel.

As mentioned by other reviewers, the views from the motel were not the best BUT the location is fantastic. We were right in the middle of the retail centre of Dunedin, which meant shopping and food were aplenty. The Dunedin railway, Cadbury Factory, supermarkets and Octagon were an easy, relatively flat 10 to 15 minutes walk away (and Dunedin is a very hilly place!). In warm, sunny weather this doesn't matter (which was how the weather was during our stay) but in wet, winter days I would be thrilled to not have to walk far for food, shopping and other activities.

Our only negative comment was that the utilities room on the ground floor next to the lift be kept tidied as during our stay, the door to this room was always open and had a number things out of place and gave us an impression that the cleaners did not tidy up after use. Other than that the apartment itself was clean and beds/towels refreshed daily.

We would definitely stay again at the Euro Motel if ever in Dunedin and happy to base ourselves here for a city centre stay or even if visiting the Otago Peninsula. Highly recommended. Thanks to Alan for his warm welcome and hospitality! Nothing was ever to small for him to attend to.

Room Tip: Rooms with balcony overlook parking area however room facing neighbouring building may be bigger due...

“Great Centrally Located Property”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

I spent four nights at this property last month and I couldn't have been more pleased with my stay here. As noted by other reviewers this property is reached via an alleyway off George Street but was easy to find. This is an ideal central location midway between the Octagon and Otago University just off George Street in Dunedin.
I was able to easily make my reservation via their web site.
The room I stayed in was clean, well appointed and very quiet. The bathroom was spotless and had a great shower but no tub. The bed was very comfortable and there were an abundance of channels available on the flat screen TV. My room was cleaned meticulously each day.
The couple that runs this hotel are very friendly and knowledgeable. The advice that they gave me with regards to restaurants, places to visit, etc. were spot on.
Unless you want a great view out of your window or a tub I think that this is a great property to stay at if you want to be in the heart of Dunedin within easy walking distance of the Octagon and Otago University just off George Street.

Room Tip: My room was on the third floor away from the elevator.

“great location, clean and tidy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

We had a fleeting visit to Dunedin to watch rugby in the new stadium. Booked into 315 Euro, not actually knowing where it was... More than pleasantly surprised to find it well within walking distance to the stadium.

Our room was a King Suite, which was very clean and comfortable. The room was furnished nicely with modern fittings and decor.

We had off street parking, which was monitored apparently. Our room was very quiet.

Would be more than happy to book this place again next time we are in Dunedin.

“A pleasant surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2011

My husband and I stayed at 315 Euro in May 2011 and liked it so much we extended our stay by one night. From the outside it looks ordinary but the surprise inside is that our room was modern, spacious, well appointed and comfortable. It had everything we needed, the staff were friendly, very good value for money and only a short walk to shops, restaurants and the centre of Dunedin.
