Sadly, Dunedin is not over-endowed with top hotels. The Leisure Lodge was very nice when it was built and the gardens are still quite nice, even if the whole place has got a rather tired feel to it. It's a good location if you have a vehicle as it's very close to State Highway 1 and just across the road from the excellent Botanical Gardens. The rooms are OK without being anything special and you need to get a room away from the road or it could be very noisy. The staff are helpful enough, but there is nothing that wilm make the stay at all remarkable.

We stayed just for one night at this hotel. Check in was effortless. It took less than 3 mins. They had everything ready when we arrived as though they were expecting us. Our rooms were located a distance from the lobby but the car park surrounding the hotel made it convenient for us. Our room was facing a beautiful garden on the ground floor and had direct access to it. The hotel location was located not too far from the city and it was easy to get around if you have your own transport. Overall, it was a nice place to stay.

The Lodge has a great, olde world charm with friendly staff.
The Restaurant and chef are excellent. The meals and desserts well priced and soooo yummy.
A great place to break your travels and enjoy Dunedin.
