We got a room at the last minute and were delighted at the space in our unit and kind hosts who looked after us. This hotel is very close to the CBD and so convenient- we didn't need a car and could walk everywhere with cafes all nearby. It was very quiet because it was set back from the main roads and not right in the midst of the student accommodation areas. Our only comment that is slightly negative was the shower- it was tiny and you couldn't touch your feet without hitting your head on the door and water jetted out the door all over the floor. The bathroom in contrast was huge and had a separate bath.

Stayed here overnight for one night. Unit was clean and well presented, however very crampt. If you like space then this probably isn't the place for you (unless they have much bigger units). Quite expensive at $175 per night and - I don't know - I guess I expected something a little roomier (it is advertised as 5 star). Another problem was no paper was left in the morning. When told the lady said that another guest had must have picked it up. She apologised but no deduction in unit bill. I love reading my paper in the morning, I think Motels (especially 5 star ones) should have a few papers spare in the event of a situation like this. For the paper reason and the space of the room I will find another Motel to choose next time - there are plenty to choose from in Dunners!

It was our second stay at the motel. We compare with a number of good motels in Dunedin and all over New Zealand and objectively Motel on York is the best. Everything is immaculate. And the location is very central but in a quiet side street. We will stay at this motel again when we go to Dunedin next time.

We stayed here for 2 nights at Easter, and although it is not the cheapest motel in Dunedin, it has to be the closest one to the centre of town- just a short stoll to the Octagon and to George Street - the main shopping street in Dunedin

It is a modern complex with decent sizes rooms, king beds and good sound proofing - so you can't hear the people in the rooms above or below you.

The rooms are excellent - spacious, with all the mod cons, Flat screen TV on the wall with several Sky TV channels, a DVD player and a decent size fridge in the kitchen area - perfect for storing all the goodies you buy at the local farmers market on Saturday morning! They also had a guest laundry that was free, but we didn't need to use it

They have 'real' Robert Harris coffee sachets (as opposed to the horrible stuff you get at some cheap motels) and they even give you an Italian coffee plunger bag and complimentary cookies.

We loved the added extra of having a heated tiled floor in the bathroom - very nice

It was well worth paying a little extra to have a place so close to town with all the mod cons mentioned above.

We wouldn't hesitate staying here again - it was an excellent experience with friendly Hosts.
