“Good location, very, very small room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 March 2011

We booked the All Seasons to be able to relax after a long haul flight to Christchurch. The location of the hotel is excellent, right in the centre. The room is modern and clean. However, it is very, very small. If you are travelling on your own, this is not a problem, but for 2 it is like being in a shoe box. It was like doing a puzzle to try and fit our 2 backpacks in and not bump into each other. That said, for the price, it is good value. For 1 night, I can recommend it. Be aware that breakfast is not included in the price.

“great value for your buck!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2011

ok, rooms are small and not all of them have windows - oops, sounds akward, but it actually isn't. you get great value for your buck: free internet, sauna, laundry, gym and so on... woudn't maybe stay like two weeks or so, but for the two nights we stayd, it was just great!
Guess, next time again!

“Great for a short stay, not for jet-lagged travellers though!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2011

We stayed here at the end of November/beginning of December before picking up our campervan for a 6 week roadtrip. It was still called Hotel So then and I'm not sure if it's changed much since the name change so this is based on our experience 3 months ago.

As everyone says, the rooms are pretty small but they make brilliant use of space. My boyfriend and I had our 2 backpacks, plus 2 fairly full daysacks and we were able to move around comfortably enough. It even crammed in an ensuite shower which was a lovely touch for the price we were paying.

We stayed in a room with no windows which was interesting. There is a funky light thing going on in the room which is supposed to simulate natural light and help you sleep. We only came from Australia which is about 2 hours time difference. However, because there isn't any natural light, we managed to sleep right through to midday without even noticing. So if you're trying to recover from jetlag this probably isn't the place for you as it's pitch black and time concept goes out the hypothetical window!

That was the main downside though. The location was a short walk from everything you need. Turn right out of the hotel and you'll soon find yourself near the cathedral and main precinct area. We turned left and had to go round the block before we found civilisation again! There are some nice pubs nearby and the hotel also has a small restaurant. There was free wifi and a gym that was well equipped.

Really enjoyed it here but I don't think I'd have liked to stay more than 3 days without windows - it was probably the least constructive we'd been in our whole time!

“Snug”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2011

Stayed here for 2 nights over New Year & stayed in the Snug room, and was exactly that..... VERY SNUG!! However I was well aware of this before I booked it so I was wasn't disappointed & knew what to expect. It was fine for what we needed for 2 nights, the room was clean, very modern, free wi-fi, tea/coffee making facilities etc so overall I was very happy with it for the price we paid, and it is also in a very central location. I don't think I could stay much longer than 2 nights though because the space was quiet small for 2 people to get around with suitcases etc. But overall I was happy & would definately recommend just know what to expect when you book
