I cannot describe this wonderful place without mentioning Werner and Heidi, great hosts. Their gentle attention, their discrete presence, their attitude towards their guests are an example for many hotels and B&B's we ever stayed. Beside great hosts, they are nice people that we would have love to get better - and we will try to stay here again in the future for that reason.
The place is clean, quiet, well-accommodated, and the whole estate is well maintained - with love and eye for detail. Our room was looking out on the garden and a small pond, accessible via our private entrance in that garden.
The daily aperitif is, as it is in the better B&B's we stayed, a real moment of joy with other guests and Werner and Heidi.
If you are anywhere in the Marlborough area, adapt your plans so you can stay in this great place!

This is a wonderful property. Quiet and rural -- with attentive hosts, Heidi & Werner. Located just outside Blenheim. Many environmentally-friendly features. Delicious home-cooked breakfasts, as well as wonderful wine from their own vineyard. Very relaxing. Suites are comfortable. Was our base for visiting the Marlborough Wineries.

My wife and I stayed at this B&B for 6 nights. We used it as a home base to explore the fabulous wine-country of South Island, as well as to take more extended day trips down the coast and into the mountains.

We almost exclusively stay at high-end resorts, and thus our standards are high. Coming to the Pepper Tree was a bit of a roll of the dice for us, as we hadn't heard of it before and really weren't sure of its quality. In NZ unfortunately B&Bs typically aren't that great.

We were so pleasantly surprised! The house itself is lovely - a huge old colonial structure set in a massive garden and vineyard, covered with flowers. And the owners were even more lovely - a Swiss couple who moved to NZ some years back. Being Swiss one might expect great efficiency and attention to detail - and we got exactly that. The service (and food) was topnotch in every respect.

The rooms were perfect, overlooking the wonderful garden. Really the only downside was the sound of birdsong in the morning - so loud that it woke us up at dawn.

The owners are charming people and great fun to talk to. We had a terrific time and were sorry to go.

I can not recommend this B&B more highly. If you find yourself staying in the NE corner of South Island, and are looking for a combination of laid-back NZ charm and Swiss efficiency, then this is the place to go!

This luxurious farm homstead provided us a "total expierence"! Owners, Heidi and Werner pay attention to detail in every aspect and are perfect, gracious hosts. From the lush designer decor, the gardens, the farm land and the beautiful "homemade" full gourmet breakfast this place has it all!! Try to stay at least two nights!! You will be sadto leave but will have a big smile!
