“Good hotel but bit far out of city”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

There are 2 Mercure hotels in Wellington. This one on Willis Street was good but is the far end of the city. This didn't bother us so much as we like walking around and got a great deal from Grabone. Beds were average, rooms were a decent size. We ate at restaurant one night and the food was pretty good. Staff seemed helpful enough. Happy hour in the bar was 5-7 and cheap as!

“Good mid-range hotel, although bit far from city center.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Hotel located a bit far from the center of Wellington. But as Wellington is not very large for a capital city and the central district is rather compact, it wasn`t a big inconvenience for us. Almost always have we walked during our stay in this city and gained advantage of using public transport only for getting from the airport and experiencing a funicular ride up to the botanical gardens.
Our room was OK, equipped with TV, minibar, electric heater, free tea/coffee making facilities. It didn`t look new but was clean. Hotel requests a key deposit while check-in. Breakfast is charged extra. There is a gym on the premises.
As a whole we were satisfied with our stay there.

“Postage Stamp Rooms in a City Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012 via mobile

We stayed here in transit during the rugby season when no doubt the cost of the rooms had been hiked to a ridiculous level (300NZD a night), for what can only be described as a postage stamp sized room where you fall over the bed as you open the door.

The bar and staff service was good overall but the cost was not justifiable. Stay here if you like tiny rooms steep prices and the worlds worst car park.

Dear Nomadion UK,

Thank you for your comments regarding the size of our hotel room and car parking, I will take your comments on board.

We have two levels of underground parking and also open parking spaces on the Watson Street level. The space between each park allows enough room for most sized cars. For any larger vehicles we offer the lower parking area.

The weekend of your stay was over a Major Event for Wellington the IRB Wellington Rugby Sevens and the hotel rates did reflect this.

I would be happy to discuss your stay further with you and welcome your call.

Kind regards,

Rob Poole

“SYRINGE found in room”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Upon checking out I found a syringe in my room. Thankfully it had no needle in it but a very disturbing and disgusting thing to find anywhere, let alone a hotel room. Alerted reception staff who didn't seem to care, wrote to manager about it and havnt heard back. Very disappointing and IMO are letting down a very good hotel chain.

Dear Brenrox

Thank you for taking the time to complete this review process, constructive feedback is always welcomed. With specific regards to your issue, we have taken the matter very seriously and I have been informed by my front office staff of this incident, I have however received no correspondance from yourself on the issue.

We take cleanliness very seriously and as such the executive housekeeper and myself have addressed the very serious nature of this incident with the staff member in question.

Regards
