“Friendly polite staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

After booking and reading other reviews I feared the worst about our room. But I was pleasantly surprised, nice view, polite staff, booked car park space, serviced daily. It was a little tatty in places. Nice new appliances, washer/drier a godsend with traveling. Would book again. We were on the 12th floor and traffic noise not an issue- it is city centre after all!'

“Small, not that clean, but new appliances”

Kind of a strange place. Although the bathroom was TINY, the shower was miniscule, the windows were old and didn't open properly, and the place seemed generally "grimy," there were brand new and very nice appliances, including a washing machine. Maybe the rest will be updated soon? We weren't very impressed, but then we needed a place to crash after taking the ferry across and arriving late at night (our key didn't work and the manager wouldn't even come down, but assisted us by phone-weird). I guess it's ok for what we paid, some online deal of $115, but I wouldn't recommend it.

“Noisy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

I was in Wellington for one night and I chose to stay here due to its convenient location, close to an exam centre where I had an important test to sit the next day. Therefore I requested a quiet room. I got a room on the third floor, and the decor was nice enough; however, it wasn't as quiet as I thought it would be. It was a Friday night, so there was plenty of foot traffic all through the night, and I don't think I got a wink of sleep. Also, the room wasn't particularly cheap either, because I decided to go for a more expensive option to ensure I got quality. I might as well have stayed in the backpackers just across the road (yes, I could hear the backpackers chatting roadside from inside my room, with all the windows and doors closed).

Room Tip: I don't think any of them are any quieter than the rest, as all the windows faced The Terrace.

“Not good”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

My receptionist booked the Quest on the Terrace for me in error as I had requested to stay at Quest Atrium about 100 metres up the road. She gave my credit card details to confirm the reservation which was a special internet deal that included broadband access in my room. I subsequently had to argue the case to get this as they wanted to charge me extra for internet access. The room was large, very sparsly furnished, run down but clean.

On my last night I stopped at reception at about 7pm to ask what time reception opened in the morning as I had to leave before 7am. I was told reception opened at 7am so I asked if I could settle my account there & then. I handed over my credit card & the receptionist processed the payment & gave me the print out from the eftpos machine. I asked for a GST receipt as it was a business trip. The receptionist then discovered that my credit card had already been charged for the full amount of my stay upoon booking. This was never communicated to me. I asked for a refund of the extra transaction only to be told that the owner was the only person who could do this & he would process it tomorrow. As I was leaving early the next morning, I said this was not good enough but this got me nowhere. So I then asked for a copy of both GST receipts so at least I hadsome evidence that my credit card had been charged twice. The receptionist was only able to give me a receipt for the 2nd transaction, not the one that they had processed at the time of booking!! I resorted to asking the receptionist to write a note explaining what had happened with his name & signature on it.

I agree with other reviews The Quest Terrace is not worth it - there are plenty of other places that are nicer & better value.
I wish that I had read trip advisor before - will definitely do so in the future.
