“What a dump !”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2011

The worst accommodation we have had in New Zealand, in fact so bad we left 15 minutes after checking in. The two bedroom apartment smelled mouldy, was filthy, had broken doors, tired furniture, paint peeling off the ceiling, water damaged walls - they have the hide to say they have a four star rating and charge as if they do. We would never book into another Quest anywhere in the world. The reception staff dealt with our complaints very well, so well in fact I got the impression it is not unusual for guests to bail out of this place.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review and we appreciate your feedback. We are continually striving to improve our standards and ensure we deliver a fresh guest experience each visit.

We are very sorry to hear of the condition of the apartment during your stay. We are pleased to inform you that the property has since replaced the sheer curtains, steam cleaned all carpets and drapery, installed new LCD TVs and a new linen supplier has been sourced.

A refurbishment programme, including new furniture, carpet and painting of the apartments and public areas is also scheduled to commence shortly.

Our maintenance programme has been reviewed to ensure that any issues that arise are dealt with in a timely manner.

Best regards,

Scott Bellingham

“Not as per published rating”

We have stayed in several Quests in NZ and Australia and are usually satisfied. This is the second time we have stayed here and again were disappointed. It is definitely not up to the four star rating - tired, smelly hallways and dirty curtains in the room. Reception staff were friendly enough but as several people have commented the parking is a couple of blocks away and it is a bit of a lottery as to whether the 5 min drop off out front is available..the buses in Wellington take no prisoners

“Terrible service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2010

Booked this hotel 5 months in advance and had a comfirmed booking. One week before our arrival, was sent an email advising "due to unforeseen circumstances we are unfortunately unable to accommodate you on the 4th December 2010"
On contacting the hotel I was told they had overbooked. They had booked us accommodation at another hotel, but this was a lower grade hotel and was not in the centre of town where we had originally booked.
We were not happy with this as our booking was made 5 months inadvance.
We tried several times to talk to the manager, we were told she would call us back - this never happened. Everytime she delegated to the poor receptionist.
After trying to contact the hotel manager several times, and her refusing to talk to us, we basically had no choice to give up.
I was disgusted with the way the hotel had delt with this booking and their lack of adequate compensation.
This hotel gives the Quest hotel brand a bad name.

“Our only disappointment in New Zealand”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2010

This hotel was our only disappointment among the 10 hotels we stayed throughout New Zealand. On the day we arrived, we called the hotel for directions from the main highway and were given very poor ones twice. At the third attempt we we told we were driving in circles and it was too frustrating to deal with us. Well, whose fault was that? The "service person" then told us we should go to a gas station and hung up on us.
(BTW, we traveled the whole length of New Zealand and never had any other problems finding our way. )
We eventually arrived at the hotel thanks to a friendly gas station attendant. The parking lot for the hotel was 2 blocks away which made carrying luggage awkward. The front desk told us they had "run out of discount coupons for the parking lot" which meant we had to pay $40 instead of $25 for overnight parking. Other guests checking in had the exact same experience. We were told the person who was supposed to order the discount coupons had not done so. The room was pleasant enough with a very nice bathroom, but the service was terrible.
Don't stay here if you're driving. Hotels should know where they are and be able to give you directions on how to get there.

“great city location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2010

party of 4 stayed one night in November. The location was fantastic. The staff was very pleasant. Lobby was locked in the evening so very secure. I wish we had booked it for more then one night. I highly recommend this property for anyone that wants to be centrally located.
Our 2 bedroom apt was clean. The washing machine broke down but the staff sent housekeeping up to gather our wet clothes, and they washed dried and folded them for us.
