“Great corporate accommodation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

I booked a month stay for a colleague at Terrace Villas. This is the first time I used them and found them very easy to make arrangements with, and my colleague was really enjoyed his stay there. The location is central, the building has character, it's a far nicer place for long term accommodation than a number of the serviced apartments I've booked before.

“Excellent place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

Stayed here for a week during the recent Rugby World Cup. The location is great and is a short walk into the CBD and about equal distance to the business end of the city to the party end. The rooms were very nicely appointed, with a kitchen and living room and separate bedroom. The kitchen had everything needed for a stay and the living room had plenty of space. The car parking and internet was included in the price which is nice for Wellington accommodation. The price is about the same as a better than average to good hotel but I'd prefer to stay here in the future.

“Historic but needs better maintenance”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 April 2010

We stayed three nights in the Terrace Villas. Like many accommodation venues it proved to have some variation from the photos! We realised it was a historic villa and was in keeping with its history but found that the general maintenance was not up to scratch. The kitchen needed a good clean, especially inside cupboards and drawers, and the rubbish bin smelt like cigarette butts. The bed was comfortable and the furnishings, though old according to the theme, were adequate. We had a good deal through Jasons and found it value for money, but for what was quoted as full price (over $200 a night) we would have gone somewhere newer as there are plenty of those in the city. Free parking was a plus though. Staff friendly but office hours were limited.

“Average accomodation, poor location.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2009

Clean and comfortable, one bedroom apartment. Adequate cooking facilities with good selection of utensils, crockery and cutlery. Bedroom at the front, some disturbance from traffic and late night revellers, probably as a result of the large amount of student accomodation in the vicinity. Bathroom with bath and shower, plenty of hot water. No laundry service available but washing machine and tumble dryer in bathroom.
Flat screen satellite TV but basic channels only, sport etc available for a charge but you have to pay for a month!
Location is another story. On the map it looks close to the CBD, however the map does not indicate that the accomodation is at the top of a hill, from CBD, which includes the access to shops and food outlets, requires a climb up a steep hill and I counted 187 steps from Church Street. Real coronary stuff!

“Great location, noise from other apartments”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2006

The Terrace Villas are historic houses that have been turned into short/medium stay self-contained accommodation targeted at business people. Their location is great, close to the motorway (without the noise), the university and the city.

Our room was on the middle floor of the house which meant that we did hear the person moving around on the floor above and the smells from the person doing their cooking in the next door apartment wafted our way too (you're asked not to cook fragrant food for this reason).

We had a one-bedroom apartment which was more like a bedsit/studio. It also came with a small uncovered off street carpark. The bedroom was at the back of the house and got nice afternoon sun and there was a small balcony attached.

The staff were okay but sometimes away from the office during opening hours so you had to use an outside phone to contact them.

Terrace Villas are more enjoyable than a hotel room but don't have all the amenties of a hotel costing an equivalent amount.
