one word to sum up the place would be - AWFUL!! We arrived midday to the motel and when checking into our room we found dirty g-strings and socks on the floor of our room we had been given the key for! Initially we thought we must have the wrong room and called the office only for her to only come up remove the underwear and told us we were in the right room and that they had a group of boys in the night before, no apologies or any extras from them for such a poor service of the room! disgusting! Also there was no fresh towels, facecloths and toilet paper in the room. The front lady was absolutely awful -no manners, no customer or people skills, was very very rude everytime we had to deal with her. Did not greet the second half of our group when they arrived at the motel shortly after us in a proper hospitality way, was just shocking service!
Will never again stay there and advise everyone the same. It is a cheap and nasty place with nasty service! just yuck!!

stayed 2 nights for the Wearable Arts Award show, and after intial problems with the staff over one night cancelled and they had not documented, so were insistent they would change me, ( but I was as insistent they would not, and they didn't) we found the room clean, kitchen facilities, good parking on site, handy to city & easy to find. Would use them again and recommend to others

I spent a long weekend in Wellington to attend the Wearable Arts Show and stayed 3 nights at Harbour City.
I was surprised (given the budget price) and delighted with this motel - the rooms are spotless and spacious - ours even had a well-equipped little kitchen - and everything was of a much better quality than most budget accommodation.
The owners, Roc and family, were extremely pleasant and helpful at all times and the motel is very close to restaurants and the top of Cuba Street (most interesting street in the city!). There is ample free parking under the building.
My only complaint would be that it is rather noisy at night - traffic and sirens on Willis Street. But I would still stay there again, any time!

The reason why we stayed there was the location, and it was close to all amenities. Three of us took a room with one double and one single, and we really like the beds, which were new and very comfortable. The room got everything we needed. The cooking ring, kettle, and microwave were handy as we stayed for four nights, and I could cook breakfast for my son. The driving to ferry was straightforward, by simply following Willis Street.
