My husband and I had the pleasure of spending our last night of our 15 day Holiday at Ridge Country Retreat with hopes to recharge before our long journey home to the States. I’m still relaxed! This is a rare treat you must experience if in Tauranga. There is a main house that has the pool, large living room with a cozy fireplace to enjoy good company and good wine from the wine list and outisde is another fireplace with a large deck and lovely gardens. There a few room in the house, and then seven luxury suites in a seperate building.

We were warmly greeted by owner Joanne and directed to our room, one of seven massive luxury rooms above the main house. Our room was absolutely enormous and had contemporary furnishings with the most modern of conveniences. There is sumptuous bedding, an extra day bed for additional people, heated towel rack, and a claw foot tub on the deck to soak in the water and soak in the view of the stars at night. We saw the Southern Cross for the first time from here!

The retreat is up in the hills overlooking the most beautiful view of a valley all the way to the sea. The view is breathtaking and even better enjoyed from a soak or swim in the large thermal heated infinity pool. Toasty warm goodness! The dining onsite is an optional item but you would be CRAZY not to do the dining experience which includes cocktail hour and a five course meal served by our wonderful hosts. The Bailey’s crème brulee was so delicious. Breakfast is included in the price and you will be full until dinner.

This hotel is great for a romantic retreat (we were there for our anniversary), event, or just an excuse to be pampered in a luxury setting. You could stay in your room only for the hotel experience or head over to the house for a more B&B feel. Your choice! I only wish we could have stayed longer.
