I'm near the end of a week-long stay here, which has been delightful in every way. I loved the room - clean, bright and facing the pool - with mezzanine floor for sleeping. I had some writing work to complete, and it was just perfect for that. Plenty of quiet, beautiful lake view day and night, walks along the water's edge, closeness to town for provisions, and within an easy drive of some fabulous attractions. Oh, and good Wi-Fi too, plus excellent laundry and kitchen facilities - just everything one could want. The hosts and staff were so kind and friendly - I felt really welcomed and very much at home.

Hello Whitestarlion, we miss you! How special guests can become, you came to us a stranger and left as a wonderful friend. We are so pleased you enjoyed your time here with us and your needs were catered for with both your workin environment and leisure time.

Although of course you already have! which was a bonus, Taupo is a handy stop to lessen the driving to Auckland Airport when you have come from areas south of here.

Hi jaffajames, thank you for your great review. We think the location is awesome too, the lake and Lions walk on your doorstep! Thank goodness with the unusual summer we have had the heated pool for people to enjoy. The rooms by the pool make for easy logistics for parents of children that love to swim all day.

“A very good choice”
Quiet units despite being joined, on the lake which is nice for walks etc, very very helpful staff, WiFi available, Has a pool & trampoline for the kids. Units could be freshened up, Spa bath is very noisy. Also use Fair Trade tea, coffee and sugar. Our 3.5 year old loved it !
Room Tip: Garden units [where we stayed] I suspect are quiter than poolside units

Thank you for your review. We are so pleased you and your 3.5 year old enjoyed your stay, it sounds like the tramp and heated pool were a hit.
We are currently moving through the units freshing them up. We had done a number prior to Christmas but had to stop with the busy season but as things are quietening down a bit now we will be into it again.
We are glad you enjoyed the new Fairtrade tea, coffee etc, these are all inline with our wish to operate an environmentally friendly motel as well as being really good products.

Lake front accommodation with heated pool. Nice units and clean. Friendly house staff. Not suitable for very young kids as some units have mezzanine floors which can be a risk for them. Also do not get the pool rooms as it can be noisy and no privacy. Free internet but limited to 50MB which is restrictive if you are hoping to use it for planning activities in NZ. The rooms could do with a "fresh up" though.

Hi GoldenDragon338, thank you for your review. We are really glad you found the place friendly and clean. It sounds like you stayed in the midst of the summer school holidays when the heated pool has been very busy and enjoyed by many. We do have garden rooms away from the pool and perhaps if you stay again you can request one of these. Many families enjoy the poolside rooms as it makes it easy to watch the children.
In regards the internet - we have just introduced Zenbu as unfortunately the minority have ruined it for the majority and abused the system. We do offer Free Wifi but with Zenbu we area able to monitor the usage more effectively. It was a shame you didn't mention you required more MB to plan your activites when you were here as we would only have been too happy to give you another voucher.
In regards the decor, we are not sure which room you stayed in but likely to be on the upgrade to do list this year. It is a large complex and we have worked through many of the rooms but ran out of days in 2011.

“Family holiday”
We have stayed in taupo on numerous occassions and this is by far the best motel yet. It is perfect for people with young families. (we have 2 age 4 and 2) Facilities available are perfect : swimming pool( which is heated), trampoline, bike hire, spa. Great lake front position the kids loved using scooters in the evening as there is a lovely path to walk around the lake. The room is very light and the room layout we found very easy to live with( we took advantage of stair gates which were available for reassurance the kids were safe upstairs). enjoyed having our own private garden for evening meals. Our motel room and the whole complex is very clean and tidy.
Kids loved the Pool and trampoline ( "oh" and spa bath) parents loved that the kids were happy. !!!
We will return
