We stayed one night. We found the staff very nice. The Motel room is out dated now. Old TVs and Furniture (some stains), Sheets clean. Cracked tiles in bath room but clean, no cooking facilitys. The Spa was bit dirty. It was not worth the price for the quality of the motel. If cheeper it would be OK.

A nice, larger boutique hotel directly at the shore of Lake Taupo. We enjoyed our stay in a standard room. While the room was rather small, the service was perfect. Definitelty one of the better locations to stay at in Taupo!

Stayed over night on a trip down to Wellington. I think we got the worst room in the place (Studio with no view one window faceing a wall of the place next door) Place needs a good clean and paint job! Get this a 14 inch TV set high on the wall, nearly impossible to watch. A hotel with a restaurant but no room service? I would avoid if possible!

We recently stayed 2 nights at The Cove in one of their suites, overlooking the lake, albeit a sideview. Whilst the location to Taupo is pretty good The Cove was a disappointment. They successfully manage to portray a very contemporary boutique feel to the hotel by clever ambiguous photography on their website. This hotel doesn't appear to have been up-dated since the 1980's. Lots of mirrors and smoked glass. The carpet and sofa was grubby and stained, although the sheets and towels were fine. The bathroom also needed repairs. The restaurant had a very dated feel to the decor and the food was disappointing, so much so that we only ate breakfast there on one occasion. Its only redeeming feature, apart from location is that they have a deck for drinks or dinner overlooking the lake. Our balcony was only furnished with two kitchen type chairs, nothing suitable for relaxing on. The hot tub was also a little dirty and not particularly inviting. On the occasion we drank on the deck and had breakfast the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Could not recommend this hotel.
