“Good but loud”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2010

A nice hotel with view on the Tasman Sea, unfortunately is there a multilane street in between with heavy traffic including lorries as it is a direct lane to the harbour. The situation improves during the night. We had one of the Penthouse Suites, seafront, big living room with kitchenette and separate washing machine and laundry dryer, flat screen, DVD player. Nice bathroom with Jacuzzi and shower, no window.
Small bedroom, also sea front, king size bed. Small wardrobe.
Balcony over the front of bedroom and living room with sunlounger, table, 2 armchairs.
The restaurant “Salt” on the first floor is very popular with the locals. The menu is good, the meals are small but good, the guest is expected to use salt and pepper himself.
No atmosphere.
We recommend the restaurant “The Garlec Press” 81, Devon Street West, only 2 minutes away.

“Try to avoid”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2010

The front desk n reception really sucks. We checked in #201 few days back n the receptionist Julie was too rude to us. We were surprised how can the hotel hire such staff on front line. Apart from reception rest all was average

“A nice stay at the Waterfront”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2010

Charming hotel in a nice location – beach opposite and shops and museum behind. I’d stay again but next time would ask for a room without a large girder running diagonally across the window, which made it hard to enjoy the sea views. I’d have loved one of the rooms with balcony on the top level. If possible, I’d also try to avoid a time when the fire alarms are going to be tested for hours on end. Only one lift meant a wait sometimes. Very expensive internet. Positives included a really, really large room, bathrobes and a separate shower and spa bath. Oh and the bed was really, really comfy.

“Lovely location, not so lovely mattress.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2010

This hotel is top notch. Gorgeous attention to detail, the restaurant was fabulous and the location cannot be beat. But I felt like I was sleeping on cinderblocks (and that is my only complaint!) The front desk was very helpful and ensured that our stay was pleasant.

“Stunning!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2010

This is one of the finest privately owned hotels we have ever stayed in. Staff were always friendly and service was wonderful. The restaurant layout, service, menu and choice of wines was excellent. Beware, there is a booby trap in all the rooms! Namely the chocolate raisins.....and they got me. But it was worth it. :-)
