“Great experience”

Our expectations for Solitaire Lodge were high (partly based on these reviews), but we were blown away as we stepped into our room. A truly stunning view opened up in front of us.

After arriving late in the afternoon and settling in, we made our way to the lounge for the 7pm pre-dinner drinks, followed by an excellent 5-course dinner (we were absolutely stuffed).

This is possibly the best hotel we have ever stayed in. The service was excellent, particularly Graham's personal, ice-breaking fun touch.

“Outstandingly Beautiful!”

Located 20ks outside Rotoura Solitaire Lodge is a gem.
From Wayne’s warm welcome, mini tour guide around the property and Graham’s wine knowledge and Dave the chef mouth watering food to Ingrid’s breakfast makes Solitaire a perfect place for relaxation and rejuvenation.
The Waterfall Walk is a must for any visitor and if you can a helicopter trip to White Island and Mount Tarawera are also a must.
Nothing is too much of a problem for Wayne and his team.
The Lodge overlooks complete natural beauty, the website does not do this place justice (and it’s a good website!).
A must for anyone travelling around New Zealand.

Very hospitable team who went the extra mile when the plane with two members of our party was diverted to Hamilton - transfer excecuted efficiently notwithstanding 3 hour delay. And a fine meal was served at 11pm to accoomodate the late arrivers. Nice place, great views.

“Heaven on Earth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 March 2011

If you want a relaxing get-away with breath-taking views, and like luxury. This is the place for you. My husband enjoyed "the best steak I've ever tasted" in an exsquisite 5 course dinner. We enjoyed a deliciously filling breakfast each morning, al fresco, as we looked out over the Lake. You'll get use of the boats to cruise round the scenic setting; use of Kayaks, fishing equipment, pre-dinner wine tastings and canapes, and, I kid you not, as we checked out, some one was washing our car....all of this free of charge. We hiked around the gorgeous blue and Green lake, we mountained biked the redwoods, and spent some touristy time in Rotorua, but what we most enjoyed, was staring through our glass walled suite, taking in the incredibly tranquil view.

(you can also take a helicopter from the helipad on the lawn to fish or sight-see--the staff arrange everything you need, even if its wine and cheese for your boat ride around the lake)

For delicious, luxurious off-the-beaten-path (that's not too remote) relaxation in a beautiful setting, with excellent service, The Solitaire Lodge is Heaven on Earth.

“Stunning location”

This is a beautiful lodge set in a truly stunning location. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we were treated as royalty. The service and attention that Wayne, Ingrid and team give guests is second to none. Our suite had beautiful views of the Lake. The food rivalled London top restaurants. We went swimming, kayaking, in the hot pools on the Lake and trout fishing. It was a really magical three days. There are also the little things here they have like a complimentary mini bar which set the tone.

We had a wonderful trip and would love to return one day.
