“AMAZING VIEW”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Yes the room is dated and the mattress the oldest you have ever seen but who cares – the view is amazing!
Scored an unbelievable rate online – had a room on the top (4th) floor.
All rooms face the geyser & mud pools – the higher up, the better view. Geysers seem to be most active mid afternoon & early morning.
Rooms have a small fridge & tea/coffee making facilities (bring your own spoons).
Had a nice soak in a very deep & long bath.
Road noise not audible if you close the inner front door.
Sliding door can be a little fiddly to secure.
This venue has huge potential in future if they upgrade the rooms and perhaps push out the balconies. Receptionist wasn’t overly enthusiastic but very efficient.
Leave your expectations behind and check out the view!
Worth staying here if you can get a cut price rate.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 4th / top floor.

“Only for the view!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

In trying to leave a constructive review, I must admit the view from our 4th floor balcony room was pretty damm amazing.however the view is not actually part of the hotel. we also saw the same gysers from Whaka earlier in the day.
The hotel itself was pretty shocking. On arrival at 4pm, our room wasnt made up, we called reception and informed them of this. we left our bags in the corner and went out. upon returning at 9.30pm, we were just getting settled when a fire alarm went off ( apparently some bozo smoking in bed), we then went back to our room , ( not until the wife got a photo of the firemen??) wilst the room was clean, i think that the fittings and furniture must have been left over from a 70's sitcom!, the big surprise was when getting into bed to find that the sheets had not been changed from the previous people ( not happy at all). the reception was closed so we slept on our beach towels over the sheets. the next morning we reported this and were given $40 off our $120 room rate. overall this hotel was well below standard, and we would not reccomend it to anyone. if you want to see the geysers , go to Whaka!

Room Tip: if you have to stay here, ask for 4th floor geyser view room

“I loved this hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Stayed 3 nights in Jan 2012 with family, 2 adults 2 kids 13 and 15. Motel room with 2 x queen (or was it king) beds and ensuite. The view is amazing and added to a memorable stay in Rotorua. Uninteruppted views of the mudpools, geyser and steam, where the geyser errupts several times a day. It was nice to not be looking over any other rooms etc. and full privacy. Location is very good, on the main street - Fenton, although right at the end. The rooms are clean, large, light and bright, with a balcony, although not modern. Beds are comfortable. Extremely Good Value for Money which I appreciated. Plus continental breakfast included !!! wow! I would definitely stay here again, but you must request a geyser View room. With out the view, I would not choose this place as it could do with an update. It looks like something that was once grand in its hey day 30 years ago. Please also note that this place is not for everyone. If you don't want the Rotorua sulphur smells or if you need something new and modern, stay somewhere else !! My husband is asthmatic and I wondered if the sulphur smells would be a problem, but he was fine. It is not musty or damp. 6 sky TV channels, no DVD player. Gym was closed.

Room Tip: Important - Request Geyser View Room.

“Great view of geyser park.. but thats all..”

We arrived in Rotorua having booked this place blind and the pictures on the website certainly were rose-tinted!
As we were simply staying one night we weren't concerned but hospitality of staff (efficient bordering on dismissive) or amenities such as the 'business centre' (really not required - but suffice to say the strange little room with 'Business Centre' written on the door - well you wouldnt class it as one!!)
We had a bit of a giggle walking round the tired old pool area and 'spa pool's. The last one being particularly peasant as it was held open by some random office chair (possibly from the Business Centre?1?!) and a dirty nappy on the floor!
On the up side we were pleased to find the room perfectly satisfactory and clean and had a good nights sleep. Our room on the ground floor led straight out to a view of the impressive geysers so we were ideally placed to go round the park (which to be honest is a bit of a rip off). I would suggest the management try a bit harder and a bit of an update would certainly not go amiss as they have an excellently located motel.

“Best view in town from the 4th floor.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

I knew this hotel was tired before we stayed but the bed was comfy and it was clean. In fact I didn't notice much about the room as we had our eyes glued out the window. The view is amazing. We saved money by not visiting Te Puea as we could see it all from our balcony. Breakfast was inexpensive and tasted fine, plenty of options.
I would stay there again and would recommend it to people who realize the view is what makes this place. If you want a flash room forget it.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking geyser on the 4th floor.
