We stayed here during the New Year break and were happy enough with the place.

The rooms are spacious, clean and well equipped. The rooms are all wireless equipped and the speed is pretty quick, although New Zealand is one of the few places left in the world who charge ridiculous amounts for wireless access.

The hotel is a short walk from the town and has plenty of free parking for guests.

The Scenic hotel in Pahia is okay, but I've seen better places in this price range. It could do with some upgrading.

The hotel staff is very nice and helpfull. The room was nice and spacious, we had a Superior room. The ceiling fan was good, and a lot better than most AC's.

The bed was a bit worn, a new mattress wouldn't hurt it. The bathroom was fine and clean, as was the room.
The worst was the bathroom fanning system. As all the rooms are connected to the system, you can hear it very good when the neighbors have their fan on. It leaves you with a very annoying buzzing sound that can be heard even with the bathroom door closed. It couldn't be helped, and we just had to wait it out, according to staff. I slept using earplugs, never did that in a hotel before.

The hotel is fitted with a pool, which is nice. The pool isn't very warm, but nice to have a dip in.

The restaurant is fine, and I liked my dish. It just was a bit much for me, and I only had a main course.

Just home from two enjoyable nights at the Paihia Scenic. Our room was a two bedroomed loft style - bedroom/lounge and bathroom downstairs, bedroom upstairs. Our room was not airconditioned but lots of windows and ceiling fan, also a standup fan to provide coolness. The rooms were exceptionally quiet, clean and well appointed. Modern furnishing and a balcony looking out towards the back of the property. Lots of quality amenties in the bathroom and well stocked minibar. Internet charge is only $5 a day. Complimentary newspaper and room service available. Only thing - a small thing that bugged me was there was only one phone - upstairs. Lots of wardrobe and draw space handy for a longer stay.

The swimming pool was popular with the children and there is nice seating outside the bar restaurant area backing onto the pool area. The reception staff were extremley helpful and lots of specials and information provided with regards to the restaurant. They have a happy hour voucher you can use 'any hour that suits you' which I thought was a great novel idea! Lots of parking and not far from the town centre or beach. Recommend!!

We stayed two nights during summer 2010, and we had a great time there. The rooms were clean, nice and the beds comfortable. The hotel isn't located in the centre of the village, nor close to the sea (although not more than 5 minutes walk), and can be a little difficult to find when arriving by car in Paihia after dark. Despite arriving late in the evening, after the kitchen had closed, the staff were very helpful, and managed to fix us an actually very good dinner.
