“A wonderful stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We stayed here in mid January, 2012 and loved every minute of it. Facilities are fabulous: clean and spacious and we wanted for nothing. Andrew is so friendly and nothing is a bother. He clearly loves what he does and it shows (he hates a chat it would seem!! - lol) He helped make our stay (alas as short as it was) a memorable and wonderful one suggesting activities and even making the bookings for us.
This is an incredible region and the accommodation and beauty of the place left us on such a high.
I have no hesitation in recommending this to everyone! We even want to go back (so look out Andrew!!)

Room Tip: Leave it to Andrew, he WILL look after you :)

“Awesome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Stayed here in November after Road tripping around Northland. Andrew, the owner, gave us a warm welcome and recommended lots of things to do and see. He seemed very knowledgeable about the area of Paihia. Place was very clean, modern and tidy. We had a 2 Bedroom unit which included a Queen bed and a twin room. Each room had their own television and we had a huge choice of movies to choose from the DVD cabinet. Bathroom had been renovated, the shower fan was a little noisy, but not a major issue.

Overall, enjoyed our stay, and would happily return.

“Bali Hai: an oasis away from the village centre”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

If you're looking for beachfront accommodation, in the heart of the Paihia village, this may not be the place for you. But if you're looking for a quiet, tranquil getaway, just a stones throw away from the bustle of traffic & holiday-makers, this is the place to be!

Booked ourselves into a superior studio apartment (No.9) and to our delight, we found ourselves in a studio which was more serviced apartment than motel. Full cooking facilities, microwave, free WiFi, free DVDs, BBQ area and a balcony area to boot!

Town centre & the beach was only 1km and a pleasant stroll away. Had the pleasure of meeting Andrew, the owner. He was most welcoming, friendly and full of good conversation!. Thanks Andrew for the suggestion of a drive down the west coast to see the giant sand dunes and Tane Mahuta! It was very was much appreciated!

We would highly recommend the Bali Hai. The main caveat being that you have to be prepared that it's not beachfront...

“Clean, cheerful, welcoming motel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

If you're willing to take a 5 min. drive (or 15-20 min. walk) to the main activities in Paihia, this place is a real gem. The road does go over a pretty steep hill, though, so I bet the walk would be a drag. (It's not hard to find parking in Paihia.) The rooms are big, very well lighted and airy, modern, and comfortable. The kitchenette has a fridge, microwave, coffee kettle, silverware, flatware, and glasses, and it would be easy to self-cater some meals. They even had a couple of gas grills for use by guests. Bed was comfortable, and the room was quiet as it's set back a bit from the main road. It's great to sit out on the balcony, watch the sunset, and have a beer. I came by myself, but will be returning in April with my family!

“Good base for Bay of Islands”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

Very friendly staff and a fairly modern, well-equipped room, with a fair amount of space in the kitchenette and the living area. Close to the coast plus (by car) the restaurants and boat trips of Paihia, and a good base from which to see the Bay of Islands. Recommended.
