We loved the Bay of Islands and were happy with the Hotel. It's very good value for money as you are not paying a premium for a top location. The walk into Pahia only took a few minutes and Pahia has some wonderful places to eat. The only downside was that the room was so hot so if anything the only thing the Hotel could do to improve things is to install air conditioning.

Myself and a group stayed here for a week over the new years break. I had a good experience with tanoa hotel, they were easy to deal with from the start in terms of bookings etc, we paid $140 with 3 people in each room, and the rooms were clean and tidy, and situated a short walk to the centre of paihia, we walked to town several times a day. The pool and spa pool are great and we enjoyed these facilities alot. there is an in hotel washing machine and dryer set up which is handy and it costs $2.

The family had a great time at this motel great walking distance from town and rooms are very clean and staff helpful.
We didnt get enough time to sample the food in the resturant (indian food) as we were there for a weekend.
I would come to this place again no problems value for money and not on the busy side of town.
My only concern is it was a little hard to find and it would be a disadvantage for tourists having to search for the motel.

We bought a coupon on the Groupon daily deal and encouraged daughter and another to do the same. $89 for a night for two in a "superior room" with continental breakfast. Great deal....Using coupon with my daughter in November 2011, we phoned and asked about the room, they said we would be in an upgraded room. Um, all of the rooms are the same but for the one suite they have. No sky, and a very old fashioned tv. room was average at best and smelled musty. No upgrade here!!! We are using our own coupon next week. Phoned and asked how much for a 4yr old child to come as well, free!! excellent, will just pay for his breakfast. Once I told her we were using a coupon, the child cost became $35. I said, but child is free she said no, coupon is only to get people to book the rooms. Seems the extras pile up later. On taking the child we are actually saving one dollar by getting the coupon. Would rather have booked elsewhere. They told us if we didn't like it we could go to Groupon and try to get our money back. Would definitely NOT RECOMMEND this motel.
