“Basic but clean and suited us”

My husband and I were over in NZ on our honeymoon from UK and stayed in Paihia for 2 nights 4th to 6th Jan. Finding motel was easy, great location within walking distance of shops, bars and places to eat. Check in was no problems and our room was fine out of the 3 motels we stayed in on our 3 week trip this was the biggest room. It was basic but clean which is all we needed as we weren't in the room long enough for us to want it to be anything else. When you stay in a motel you know what to expect and this was fine for us. A nice touch was that we were left a bottle of sparkling wine on a silver tray with 2 champagne glasses as it was our honeymoon!

“Nice motel, couple of faults thou”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

We stayed here during a weekend visit to Paihia for the Dolphin trip and the cape trip.
Motel was really easy to find, close to all shops and restaurants.
Our room was a Good size, parking was right out side the door. There is everything you need to make a meal for yourself, however I was put off the kitchen when I first arrived and was met by the merry line of ants making their way across the worktops.
Toilet was a little smelly when we arrived and stayed that way throughout so we kept the windows open all the time which seemed to help.
The bed was very soft and when my boyfriend turned over in his sleep I fell into the space. Need a new mattress in the room asap.
There is a nice swimming pool and spa which are both nice and warm. Tennis court at rear.
One other bad point: room Walls are so thin I was kept awake all night by our neighbours snoring and the noise of the backpackers motel across the tennis courts.
If I was to go back to Paihia again I think I would upgrade to a slightly more expensive hotel.

“Great Place - Would stay again in a heart beat!”

We stayed at the Casa Bella Motel for three nights over the New Year period. We had the most basic unit available which was a studio unit, but it exceeded all our expectations. The room was spacious and had a large, very comfortable bed (long enough for my 6"4 partner to fit on!), adequate lighting and a kitchenette (hob, microwave etc). The bathroom was also quite nice. The owners were really lovely and helpful. The motel had a small fresh water swimming pool as well as a spa pool - great bonuses. The motel welcomes guests until 10:30pm, which was really cool for us as we had other friends staying in Paihia.

In terms of location, the motel is a short walking distance to the beach, kayak hire as well as bars and restaurants. Just around the corner is Kings Road which is a tourist/back packer hub. However, there is no issue with noise near the motel. The ferry terminal is probably 10mins away, and my partner and I even walked to Waitangi and back which wasn't too far.

Overall a fantastic motel to stay at for anyone. Have already recomended it to my sister and her partner when they travel to Paihia later this year!

“Friendly owners, slightly tired”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

This motel is centrally located within Pahia's 'Motel district' along with a lot of other motels and hostels, a short walk from the beach and the town centre itself. We had booked a day trip for the day following our stay with an early start and we were allowed to leave our bags in one of the rooms all day at no extra charge, which was a huge bonus. Aside from this, the service was generally very friendly and the rooms were clean and relatively large, especially for the price. It was quite dated generally though and the bathroom and kitchen were in need of modernisation, however, overall, a handy location with good service and a good stay.

“Great location”

friendly, efficient management; well-equipped kitchen; comfortable (upstairs) room + balcony; shopping, dining and tourist attractions within walking distance; when we stayed there mostly elderly couples like us were staying which made our stay peaceful and very relaxing + we made a number of new acquaintances during the numerous barbecues
