“Great room for a quick stopover”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

We stayed in the resort for 1 night in January, with a my daughter and a friend. The room was clean with a queen and single bed. The manager was very helpful, advising where we should visit in our short stay. The bathroom was modern and clean, with plenty of towels for the 3 of us. The pool setting was very attractive, with a spa, although the spa could do with a clean. We were able to check in early as our room was ready, and were able to park our car in the hotel car park even after checking out. It was in a great location, within walking distance to restaurants and bars.

“Large comfortable room - great deck”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

We stayed in the resort first week of January 2012. Our room was in a physically separate building next door to the main resort. It was a great size room 2 adults and one teen. We had the front corner unit with a great deck , with small view of the beach and water. Cool street, but not for those people who like their sleep as the many backpackers in the neighbouring backpackers and hostels like to party at 2am. We really enjoyed our stay and got good service at the restaurant and from reception. There was a large kitchen bench in the unit and had there been a micorwave would have been great. Very clean etc. Pool looked great but didn't get a chance to use it. The Wi-Fi connection was poor, not enough to power a laptop and slow for handheld devices, but also weaker connection in Paihia. Great location to all of Paihia's great amenities. We enjoyed our stay very much!!

Room Tip: For a good night sleep stay away from the main road

“Great Family Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

We are a family of 4 and we recently stayed here for 3 nights. We found it to be a great value hotel - very reasonable with their pricing for children, with the 1st child free to stay and the 2nd only $10 (other hotels charge much more for any more than 2 guests) and breakfast only $1 per year of age for the kids. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel clean and tidy. A quiet location on a very quiet street and a nice walk into town. We really felt like we were on holiday walking through the lovely hotel gardens and through the pool area which we loved - rock pools and palm trees - we would stay here again in a flash!

Room Tip: Upper level units have large sliding windows if you like fresh air. Grab a deal online if you can li...

“Dark rooms, unclean bathroom, uncomfortable beds”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

Stayed in this resort from the 28th Dec - 30th Dec. In a superior split level room.

We had originally booked through to the 31st of Dec however the room was so bad that we left. Management refused to not charge us for the third night despite us trying to check out the evening of the 29th and morning of the 30th - so buyer beware!

Our room was 213, and was advertised as a KING room - this was in fact two singles pushed together, and was incredibly uncomfortable.

The room was dark, and musty. The bathroom sink on the tiles was filthy, the floor of the shower was stained and the centre was missing from the shower dial (see pictures for details).
The fridge did not work our entire stay, and when was opened water leaked onto the carpet (this probably contributed to the very musty room smell)

The parking was very hard to get out of.

Although we did get a good room rate ($135per night) I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend to friends. I guess in hindsight we got what we paid for.

“old & dark room, unprofessional cleaning service, nice pool area”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

We stayed in one of the back units on the ground level (meant to be the "superior" rooms). Our room was dark (had to press up against the windows to get natural light) , old (some fixtures such as bathroom tap barely hanging on). Fridge was loud and toilet could drip constantly if not flushed just the right way. Units are also definitely not sound proof and doors closing reverberates throughout.

Cleaning staff could regularly be found en-mass smoking in outdoor stairwells, while rooms remained un-serviced until after 2pm. (Hotel states that rooms will be serviced between 10am and 12:30pm.). Not a good look - rather unprofessional.

Also, gym was pretty gross and possibly unsafe with equipment barely hanging in there (no understatement).

Though our room & cleaning service was definitely not the greatest, Paihia Pacific does have a lovely pool/spa/sauna area where we spent an afternoon. Staff on reception were very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Perhaps the upper floors have better natural light, not sure.
