We arrived on our first day in New Zealand and were greeted by one of the two friendly hosts. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable and the bathroom is large. Breakfast was great, if you had an early start planed they were happy to prepare a bag breakfast for the road. The view from the balcony is a great way to start the morning with a coffee or end the day with a glass of great Kiwi wine.

We spent 2 nights at the Bay Stay B&B at the end of December 2011 and although the weather failed us whilst in Paihia, Rob and Nick at the Bay Stay were incredibly friendly, informative and helped us find some other activities when our Hole in the Rock trip was cancelled.

The rooms are bright and clean, with all facilities you need, with WIFI available throughout. The guest lounge/kitchen is Ron and Nick's own living space also, which they allow you to share and it is very nice and well laid out.

Breakfast is also very nice and you can help yourself to tea/coffee making facilities throughout the day. The view from the deck is also lovely and peaceful, we were just unfortunate that north island was getting an awful lout of rain, so did not get the opportunity to enjoy it.

Although it is a little way from Paihia main town, if you have transport this is not a problem and taxi's are easy to arrange.

We would definitely recommend for the breakfast and peacefulness alone and may consider going back to see the Bay of Islands as it should have been!

Our stay in the Bay of Islands was greatly enhanced by our hosts Nick and Rob. My wife and I were made to feel at home and the service was superb. The location was excellent.

I stayed at Baystay for two nights on 2nd and 3rd January 2012. It was quite simply wonderful. My son and I were made to feel right at home. The room was very comfortable and of a very high standard. The breakfast was excellent and the view of the river fantastic.

This was my first trip to New Zealand, but I will make sure I come back and will want to stay for longer next time.
