We stayed for 2nights with 2 children ages 5/6 and they loved it. They enjoyed swimming in the pool and playing on the playground and our room was upgraded for no extra charge

The outdoor area was really nice, we sat outside in the sun and had dinner on the picnic table. There was enough room outside our room for the kids to throw the ball around.

The area is nice and quiet and we liked that it wasn’t in town but only 5mins drive away.

The best thing about the room was there were 2 T.Vs one in the living room and one in the bedroom, which was wonderful for the kids as they could watch cartoons while the adults watched the news.

There was everything needed in the kitchen cupboard, even a dishwasher.

I am nearing the end of a 7-week trip to New Zealand. When not staying with friends or family, I have been staying in motels. The Fern Motel in Napier is great and sets the standard for all the others. It is definitely the best I have stayed in this trip, Within its price range (or even beyond it) I found it outstanding. The refurbished rooms offer all the comforts of home with much more privacy than many other motels. You can park right in front of your own door. Its all so modern and totally usable, a breath of fresh air. The kitchen has everything you need, even a cafetiere. The room is tastefully decorated with large multi-channel flat screen TV, great lighting and modern furniture. The room I stayed in had a little garden with seats and table. The bed, linen and quilts are high end and like brand new. The room even had a Fern in a pot. The extremely friendly and helpful hosts make you feel comfortable and relaxed, Where you stay can either make or ruin your holiday. The Fern Motel gets a big 10 out of 10 from me. I highly recommend it.

Very good and we appreciate how comfortable and modern our unit was. Fluffy towels, refurbished, well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and seating and very clean. Easy to find and can recommend to anyone wanting good service and relaxing unit. Free Wi-fi a bonus. Many thanks to everyone for a pleasant stay.

The Fern Motel, is in the latter stages of a complete makeover. What was once a grotty forgotten establishment, is being transformed into a very comfortable place to stay.
With a limited budget the owner/operator has upgraded the units to a high standard, with new kitchens and bathrooms fixtures and fittings. There are all new appliances also. All units are fully decorated and have new drapes and curtains with the windows double glazed. I was also pleased to note that the Sky TV program set was useful and not devoted to sport or porn as is often the case.
My wife and I enjoyed a 2 night stay over a weekend, and were very comfortable. The generous double bed was firm and the floor space easy to use.
