“Excellent Location”

Ww stayed here for 3 nights from 3rd-6th January, 2012. Our apartment was in Shed 23 located on the ground floor, Apartment 7. The apartment was very clean, spacious, well equiped and comfortable with lovely water views except for the dredge boat parked in front.

The only complaint that we had of this apartment was the noise from the below restaurants, the very loud venue music being played from somewhere to the left of the Shed that went on to 4 am in the morning on both Friday and Saturday nights. Even with all the doors and windows shut which then made the apartment stuffy, we still could here the music so we didn't get much sleep on either of those nights. Doesn't NZ have noise restrictions when residential places are near by? Also when the cruise ships are docked they divert all the traffic to drive directly in front of the apartment along the wharf which also adds to further noise during the early morning.

Also the 2 level carpark above also caused our apartment to shake at times, at first we thought it was an earth tremor. You could also hear people walking and talking directly above the bedroom.

The studio style bedroom although comfortable was not completely private from the living room so if anyone wanted to stay up and watch TV the noise and light from the TV could still be seen and heard through the frosted sliding glass door dividers which were the same for the bathroom as well, so you wouldn't want another friend or children staying with you.

Having said all that the managers and staff were very profession, helpful and friendly. We would definitley stay here again because of the location but not in that apartment or in any other on the ground floor. I think we would stay in Shed 24 on the 4th floor. We did however get a very good rate from 'last minute.com' so all was not lost.

Room Tip: Choose fourth floor in Shed 24 or possibly Shed 23. Do not choose 1st floor as a 2 level carpark is...

“Most beautiful accommodation”

We stayed 3 nights on the 4th floor of shed 23. We took a five minute walk from the airport bus and was met by Anne (relief Manager) waiting downstairs. Went up in the lift, as soon as she opened the door it was WOW, the views were magic. The apartment was so clean, spacious and had every convenience imaginable. It provided milk, cereal and teas and coffee. A lovely thought of champagne and chocolate was added. It is such a central location and walking distance to lots of restaurants, ferries and shopping. When we booked I emailed asking recommendations of Restaurants and tours and a wealth of knowledge came back. A must is a tour to Waiheke Island. A ferry is five minute walk. Thanks again for the lovely Waterfront Apartment experience. See you again.

Room Tip: The higher up better view and quiet.

“Shed 24 is better than 1st floor shed 23”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

We arrived at the designated area for the hand over of the keys and the tour to the Apartment.
Off we go to our lovely apartment on the 4 floor shed 23 far corner over looking the harbour, it's a lovely apartment, but wait, we have got the wrong apartment, great, so down to the first floor room 8 not quite the same.
The room was nice and clean with a nice comfie couch and king size bed however the bedroom has big glass sliding doors which open to create a studio type apartment, even closing the glass sliding doors my wife could still hear me watching the TV which wasn't that loud. The glass doors with space above them did not make it a one bed apartment in my opinion. We specifically wanted a one bedroom, but there were photos on the booking site that could have made us realise it was a half studio/half one bed.
This Apartment is directly above the many Cafes and Restaurants so if you are are a early riser and late retirer this will suit you as the cafes and restaurants are moving and scraping their chairs and tables as they move and reset them, this can start at 7am and go on until 1:30am. The restaurants know of the problem, and why they don't put felt/carpet or something on the chairs is a mystery. The music was not too loud for us to go to sleep, they had the speakers inside so it was just a muffled sound.
I do expect some noise in apartments and motels, but the walls seemed to be a bit thin, and the next door apartment has a loud snorer. There was a speedbump in the carpark directly above, which shook the whole wardrobe, mainly just earlish in the morning, but that would be specific to this apartment. Gave us a fright the first time, but a few painted lines on it might help slow the traffic?
The bathroom/laundry and kitchen were in excellent working condition, and well stocked with all the little things which we really appreciated. The bed and chairs/couches were really comfy, and overall we would certainly say the good outweighed the bad by far.
We would stay in this location again but in shed 24, or on the 4th floor.
The location is in a great location, walking distance to almost everything.

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floor shed 23 have restaurant noise (chairs and tables scraping)

“Better than the Hilton”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

We stayed in apartment 7 in Shed 24. Like other reviewers we found the location quiet but ideal for nearby restaurants. We wanted somewhere to chill out and get over jet lag . This was ideal. The room was spacious with a large well appointed lounge and very big king size bed behind sliding doors, so you could choose to lie in bed looking over the sea, or not. The view in the middle distance is of a working port, but to one side there is the harbour bridge and distant suburbs. We had no problems from the restaurants in Shed 22 and 23. Indeed the seagulls created the most noise, and that wasn't much.

The entrance is opposite the Hilton, which charges about twice as much and has smaller rooms. OK there is maid service and a pool, but cruise liners don't berth in front of the bedroom on this side of the quay. If you don't mind making your own bed and washing up the odd cup, then choose this place instead of the Hilton opposite.

Room Tip: Shed 24 is far away from the restaurants at the start of the quay.

“Apartment 25, Shed 24 Princes Wharf”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

My mother and I stayed at Apartment 25, Shed 24 on Princes Wharf November 2011 It is very conveniently located to accommodate city experiences and is nicely situated to view the sail boat races and harbour bridge. This apartment is lovingly decorated, with all the essentials and then some, including luxurious bedding, heated bathroom floors and towel racks, and technology The kitchen had most every utensil and piece of equipment you could require for a short term rental, including “starter kits” of coffee, tea, cereal and milk. The balcony was totally delightful on sunny afternoons. We had some seriously good fun on the balcony after a day of touring. One thing: We are both avid readers and like to read in the lounge room. There were no lamps and the ceiling lighting was inadequate, even for dining, so we contacted the property manager (Waterfront Serviced Apartments) who was very responsive. They couldn’t offer us lamps as these apartments are privately owned, but they did provide us with extension cords which enabled us to move a bedroom lamp to the lounge. Annie, Alison, and Graehm, all three, were great to work with. Renting this apartment is a no-brainer.
