“Wonderfully welcoming owners; best breakfasts anywhere”

Trish and Keith are the most super hosts; nothing is too much trouble. Rooms are clean and comfortable and there is a very pleasing view to the harbour from the sitting room and outdoor deck. Best of all, the breakfasts are exceptional: the dishes are created with charm and imagination and served with friendly good humour; the generous fare sets the day going perfectly.

This is THE place to stay to sample real Kiwi hospitality and warmth. And - as many guests discover - Keith is happy to share with visitors the experience of a sail in his yacht, which is a splendid way to get afloat to view the City of Sails.

“Bizarre”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2011

Double booked us for our last two days and suggested we bunk down on the boat. Then tried to fit us in with a room close bye one night and a room upstairs the other.
Finally the black flies in the bed, the cobwebs in the bedroom and the wierd squeeky toys on the breakfast plate made our decision for us and we left for a **** hotel downtown which was actually cheaper and a whole lot cleaner.
To then try to charge us for the nights he couldnt accomodate us was I feel a bit excessive.

“An Oasis Near the Beach”

Trish and Keith Janes exceeded all my expectations. Staying at their B&B was a home away from home, beautifully situated across from Okahu Beach, close to transportation to the City Centre but away from the hectic pace of the City. My room was beautiful and quiet with a wonderful bed and ensuite bathroom. The gourmet breakfasts were to die for and Trish went out of her way to make a breakfast to suit every taste. A special bonus was a 4 hour sail with Keith as Captain. How special it was to be given the tiller for awhile. Trish went out of her way to make my visit so memorable, even taking me to a traditional Samoan church service. She even prepared a 4:30 a.m breakfast when I had to catch an early shuttle bus to the airport. I will never forget my memorable 4 days at their B&B.

“excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2010

I admit: there is no excuse for letting almost one year pass before providing this entry on tripadvisor. Among the various hotels and motels we stayed at during our 22 day trip in NZ, this is the place we remember for its hospitality. We spent the 2 last nights here before going back home and it is needless to say that the hosts can suggest a ton of things to do in and around Auckland. The breakfast is extraordinary however: fresh muffins baked every morning, delicious omelettes, fresh fruit, all in all the perfect start for the day. On top of all that and if time and weather permit, they take their guests for a free sailing trip on the Hauraki Gulf on their own sail boat (35 ft?) which was an experience in itself for us as first-time sailors. Over land, you did not feel it, but once on water the wind was a little stronger and the boat leaned a lot more than expected, enough for Keith to say “it is a bit windy” – unforgotten. Given 23+ hours of flying to get to NZ, we will not come back quickly but if you fly into or out of Auckland, this is the place to stay at during the first and/or last nights. We wish that Trish and Keith may enjoy a good health for a long time so that many guests will have the opportunity to stay in the Nautical Nook.
