“Clean, convenient and helpful staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

This was our first stop in NZ arriving New Year's Eve. Initially we were disappointed that a requested room with harbour view wasn't available (despite booking well in advance) but were pleased to have a room high up with view of Sky Tower. Check in smooth and staff helpful (they let us leave our bags as we arrived first thing in the morning straight off the flight). Room very clean and comfortable - some scrapes etc on walls so could do with a little decoration. The second night arriving back quite late a strange noise was coming from the room next to ours - like a fridge perhaps - but very loud. The room was occupied so staff didn't want to disturb the occupants so moved us to another room (slightly better grade) and with harbour view (in distance you are not directly on the front so if expecting that will be disappointed).

Breakfast in the top floor restaurant was good - although staff told us to sit anywhere (implying we would be served) before we realised it was self-service. Views from here wonderful.

Look out for special offers which may mean you can get a free breakfast. Also if you sign up for their loyalty programme there is a fast check in which might be useful if you arrive at the same time as a coach party.

Very convenient location, close to bus stop for airport shuttle and bus up to Auckland Museum, ferries across the harbour, Maritime museum (and their good cafe), and main shopping street.

Room Tip: Room high up

“Restaurant View”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Stayed for 3 nights in January. Two nights on the 10th floor with excellent views of the harbour and the 3rd night on the 3rd floor facing the main road and very noisy & dated room.
The Hotel is in a great location, central for the harbour and just next to Queen Street, the main
street in the city.
The dining room was on the 13th floor with excellent views of the harbour.
The breakfast was excellent, great muesli, cooked breakfast, cakes, buns, fruit and plenty of choices of drink.
We had one evening set meal which was of great quality.

“Great location, but that's it!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

This hotel has a great location, but that's really it. I stayed here with a friend end of Aug'11. Firstly they checked us in to a room, with only one bed whilst we had booked two queen beds. The initial room wouldn't even have been big enough to swing a cat. The second room was below average, and in much need of a renovation (god only knows the last time it had one). The air conditioning unit made such an almighty racket, that we ended up just shutting it off. The bathroom was pretty small, and again very dated.
It put a bit of a dampener on our night and was a little embarrasing for me as I was shouting my friend a night out for her 50th which included an indulgent decastation 6-course dinner at the French Cafe - quite a difference between the two.

“Great Night in the City”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Found this hotel to be a great central stay. Room was spacious and very clean. Only thing I would say was the bathroom is dated and in need of some refurbishing as it detracts from the rest of the room.
Dined in Vue and was impressed by the quality of the food, service and especially the wonderful view over the harbour and lower city.
Would definitely stay again if the situation arose.
