Arrived at Auckland Airport from Brisbane and picked up our rental car. Mt. Eden was easy to reach by car and made a good base for our first night. The Bavaria was a building of character, with good sized attractive rooms. Ours was right at the front but there was very little traffic noise. There was a friendly and efficient welcome with a map provided, together with directions to the local sights/restaurants. Breakfast was fine - the 'cooked breakfast' option was very small, as has been noted by other reviewers, but there was a good selection of other food. The only other slight negative was the small bathroom and shower. Everything was clean and comfortable however. We walked up Mt Eden in the evening for a great view of Auckland (you can drive if you don't feel like walking!) Also the village of Mt Eden - about ten minutes walk away - has a good choice of restaurants.

I like the location of this hotel, quite flexible to the city. The rooms were nice and clean, the staffs are great and helpful. However, you may find the breakfast is standard.
Overall, a nice place to stay.

We spent just one night in this small B&B after a long flight. It's conveniently located in Mt Eden and just a short bus ride to the City Center. Auckland itself was not very impressing.
The B&B is very nice, rooms are big, but furniture is all a bit outdated. Bathrooms are really basic, but everything was perfectly clean. Breakfast room and terrace was nice and we got a good breakfast before heading off.

My teen girls and I spent 3 days at Hotel Bavaria. Our room was large, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast was hearty; toast, eggs, yogurt, juice, coffee, cheeses.

The staff were friendly and eager to help. There were a couple of occasions where I needed something a little extra--and they were happy to oblige. Example: we wanted to ride a tour bus around town. It happened to pass by the B&B, so our hostess arranged for them to stop and pick us up right out front.

Location was great; a block or two from the bus line and plenty of little restaurants and shops nearby.

We would stay again.
