We stayed for 3 days at Christmas and were pleasantly surprised at the spaciousness. Two bedrooms and two baths, large living area, and a kitchen with all conveniences ( inc. washer/dryer ) all were very clean. We travelled north for 4 days and they conveniently stored our luggage while we were gone. I stayed for another week after returning and found the staff very helpful and accomodating.

Reception area very basic - a desk and a few seats. Corridors looked unfinished with bare brick walls. Apartments well fitted but ours was not clean. Complained but nothing was done about cleaning apartment and replacing some bedding

I just returned from Auckland, where I spent three days at the Chifley Suites. Your impression of this hotel will vary greatly depending on what you are looking for. As far as space and location, this hotel is ideal. The room was very large, with a full kitchen (stove, oven, full-size fridge and dishwasher), large living room / dining room (with table/chairs, couch, love seat, and flat-panel TV), separate bedroom (with king sized bed, closet, and flat-panel TV), and full bathroom with washer/dryer. The room is nicely furnished, with comfortable furniture, nice electronics (including two iPod/iPhone docks) and basic cookware and dishes. This is not high-end luxury, but it is comfortable and convenient. The location is great: only a five-minute walk to the harbor and very near to shopping and restaurants.
It is important to know that Chifley Suites is NOT a full-service hotel. There is no restaurant, there is no room service, there is no pool, no gym, and no significant amenities to speak of. If this is the sort of hotel you are looking for, look elsewhere.
This property is probably most ideal for families who are planning to spend some significant time in Auckland, and plan to use it as a base from which to see and do lots of things. The space cannot be beat, and the ability to cook some meals is a huge plus in a city that is very expensive. As long as your aren't looking for a hotel with scores of amenities, the Chifley Suites are definitely worth a look.

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel and on the positive the apartments are nicely furnished and very comfortable and well equipped. They are also in an extremely central and convenient location and good value for money.
Major drawback for us was discovering that there is no air conditioning in the rooms. Travelling in January the apartment was very warm and we had to have the door and windows open which meant a HUGE amount of noise. We stayed over a Fri night and there was a lot of party noise from below despite being 18 stories high.
The same night we received an abusive phone call at midnight from a random stranger and people trying to enter our room around the same time and having a fight in the hallway - not sure how they got our room number or up onto our floor but very annoying and a pain getting our baby back to sleep after the intrusion.
Overall a great place but for such a high level of accommodation I would honestly expect the air conditioning to be a given - and was in fact highly surprised they dont have it!!!
