This restaurant used to enjoy a good reputation some years ago so my wife and I called in for a coffee and cake after the cinema. She ordered a latte and i a long macchiato. They came in identical glasses and looked almost indistinguishable. Mine tasted of burnt coffee and had coffee grounds in it. It had been made "long" by adding hot water and had been topped up with milk with bubbles on it - not even what you could call "froth". There was certainly no attempt at just a stain of milk, My wife, who is not a coffee purist said hers was equally bad and hers had the same bubbles. The cake arrived 10 minutes later - rather defeating the idea of coffee and cake. It was just mass-produced commercial stuff. My tiramisu ( certainly nothing like the "best" claimed in the menu) had that terrible commercial whipped cream and had no flavour. My wife's sticky-date pudding tasted like tinned Christmas cake. The cheese board was meagre and the cheeses ordinary. And it wasn't cheap. Most disappointing.
