“Paradise by the pool”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012 via mobile

I was lucky enough to spend 3 nights in this hotel with my family. We had interconnecting rooms however we had requested a king and 2 doubles but we ended up with 4 doubles. Not to worry the rooms were of a fantastic size and great views of the Perth city. The best thing was the pool, wow what a treasure we have found in our own back yard. The staff around the pool were very friendly and our kids 7 and 3 felt at home to wander the entire pool area. Slides, waterfalls, differing pool depths, this was a very special experience. One thing it would be nice if the pool bar catered for patrons earlier than 11am. A coffee whilst reading the paper in the beautiful surroundings would have made it perfect. Well done Burswood see you next Australia Day!!

“Stay-cation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

A lovely place for a 'stay-cation'.
The newly re-furbished pool area was a winner. Plenty of comfortable lounging choices and attentive wait staff ensured we have a delightful day poolside.
We were in a re-furbished room. Decore better than before (re-furbishment) but the fridge is teeny tiny, was a bit of a push to squeeze a chocolate bar into it.
Bathroom sparkling with fluffy towels.

“High on price & poor on service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We had booked the hotel for 2 nights to attend the Wall concert, however at no point did the hotel inform us that the hotel was undergoing renovation and that there would be a lot of noise. We arrived at 2:30am, and there was no help at the entrance to unload the bags. Only when we neared the check in desk did someone come out to assist. All we wanted was a good night's rest, but were woken up at 7:30am with loud banging and drilling above our head. The guest relations lady had no solution other than to say that we "should" have been informed about the work, whilst booking. To compound matters, the aircon was barely functioning and the room was stuffy, and there was a stinky sewage smell emanating just outside our door. Both problems couldn't be fixed during our stay.

“Parking attendants”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Haven't returned since bad experience a year ago with parking attendants. Arrived with elderly lady Feb 2011 in extreme Perth heat, had pre-paid valet parking with hotel booking. Waited too long in car and could not attract attention of parking attendants. Eventually had to get out of the car and walk over to the parking desk to ask for service. Slow in coming over after this so I started unloading the luggage myself, as by this time my elderly passenger was suffering from the heat. Funny how this has never happened when we have driven to the hotel in my husband's luxury car, but they purposefully ignored me when I arrived in an inexpensive car!

“Yu Restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

at Burswood is an excellent, upmarket Chinese restaurant. Lovely surrounds, delicious food, great food presentation and a good wine list. The Howard Park 2008 Chardonnay is a good drop. It's a bit on the expensive side ($150 for 2 mains, rice and wine) but definitely worth it. The service was good.

Only fly in the ointment was the arrival of a bogan family with 2 small kids mid meal. The kids were loud and obnoxious and detracted from our otherwise good experience. It never fails to amaze me that people bring small kids to fine dining restaurants when there are other family friendly options available. The male had one of those mindless mohican hairstyles that are becoming prevalent around Perth. Message to him and other mohican mad males: this is an attractively challenged look (probably the mulllet of this decade really - ugh!!)
