Have changed my overnight hotel (en route to regional WA via Perth) from Ascot Quays to the Holiday Inn a couple of kms closer to the city. Was very impressed. The room I got was fantastic - very modern, incredibly quiet, large bathroom and nice decor.
Service by the team in the lobby was excellent, with genuine friendliness and courteousness.
However.....my nightly rate was very high. My colleague stayed for $100 less on the same night in the same type of room! So just check the rates available prior to booking. My rate was very expensive (esp for a non-CBD location), but then again Perth IS expensive for eating out and accommodation). There was a large outdoor festival on this particular day down the road (of which I could not hear a thing!) so the prices may have been elevated specifically to "manage the cliental" as it were!
Two slight irritations - the A/C unit seemed very underpowered for the size of the room, and it simply could not get the temp in the room down just a couple of degrees (took 6 hours to drop the temp just 0.5c - yes I knew how to operate it!). The bedding was also very 'heavy' and hot - therefore I slept quite 'hot'.
When I'm transferring through Perth, I will make this my 'regular' from now on (subject to available rates), but when staying IN Perth, I will still go to one of the CBD hotels, as its still a cab ride to get into town.
