“A home away from home and so close to the city & casino”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 March 2011

We stayed at the Quest serviced apartments on Arlington in South Perth on one of the hottest weekends in February. On check-in we were pleasantly surprised to find the air-conditioned upstairs 3 bedroom apartment pleasantly cool. The apartment on the second floor was set towards the back of the property and extremely spacious. As we had a birthday to attend at the Burswood Casino complex our choice of the Quest on Arlington meant we were only a short taxi ride away at the end of the night.
The apartments are ideal for families or groups set in a quiet part of South Perth where you get a choice of bedroom numbers plus a kitchen , meals and lounge area. They also have washing machines, driers an iron and ironing board set in a deep cupboard. The look on my daughters face when I opened the doors to use the sink in there was priceless.
The arrangements of the units mean you don't feel over looked or crowded like you do in a hotel room . The gardens and pool area looked neat and tidy and this was after a long hot spell in Perth this summer. There was free off street parking behind security gates.
Check in and check out was very smooth as was the initial booking of our room over the phone.
A short drive away is a great choice of restaurants plus on the Sunday morning we even found a supermarket that opened at 7am for breakfast supplies and a bakery for fresh bread. All in all I feel that it was a great choice to stay out of the city as the last time I stayed in the heart of the city I found that not much is open on a Sunday morning. This way we could have a leisurely breakfast, coffee read the paper & then head in Perth for shopping and lunch later.
My daughter is already planning that we stay there again so she can go to the zoo the next time as that is so close by, maybe in the school holidays...if she gets a good report.

“Good location, quiet, secure complex with functional accommodation.”

The property is located at the junction of Mill Point Road with Arlington Ave and Gladstone Ave (see Street View on Google Maps for the outside). Our ground floor apartment was a two bedroom one located in the middle of the fully gated complex. Only the few apartments facing Mill Point Road may get some traffic noise during the day but it is quiet at night.

The location is good if you want to be close to Perth but just outside the city centre. The views across the Swan River to Perth are spectacular, especially at night.

Our apartment met with the basic specification, spacious, comfortable and clean but missed the little touches to call it quality. The living room carpet, bathroom and kitchen were all clean and tidy but were all showing the signs of age (probably five to six years old). As with most serviced apartments the kitchen was basic but useable and came with the normal odd collection of cutlery and missing china / glassware (although we never asked for the sets to be made up).

The air conditioning was rather loud but in reality we did not need it, even on the days when the temperature got to 35 deg.

The apartment daily servicing was good, as was the site management. I needed to speak with them a couple of times and each time my query was addressed immediately and affectively.

There is a small supermarket about 200m away and three restaurants within a similar distance.

Buses into Perth stop outside the complex. It is about a 20min walk through the riverside park to the Mends Street Pedestrian Ferry into Perth. If you are moderately fit, one day we did a circular walk, first heading to the Mends Street Ferry, across into Perth, through Perth, or the gardens bounding the north side of the Swan River, then across the The Causeway Bridges and turn right along the river side parks back to the apartment. It is probably about 5 miles / 8km. You could also divert to see the six kangaroos in the reserve on the south-west end of Heinsson Island.

In summary; good location, quiet, secure complex with functional accommodation.

Thank you very much for your honest comments and review.

Yes, the complex is old, and we are making what changes/upgrades we can to bring it up, without losing our friendliness and committment to efficient service.

We look forward to welcoming you again.

“NOT up to usual Quest standard !”

I had this misfortune of staying at this terrible property in Dec 2010.
I stayed at this property for 3 days with a group of collegues on a very busy work trip. In any other circumstance I would have walked right back out the front door upon viewing the room and facilities.

This is supposed to be a Quest serviced apartments property. I cannot believe Quest grant the right for this property to use the Quest brand.
This property is more like a cramped public housing commission development or budget university accommodation.

The property is quite old with a generally poor level of up keep. In addtion to the general POOR QUALITY of EVERYTHING I found;
Dirty kitchen
Dirty couches
Tiny TV's, smaller than laptop screens ( I didnt even know they made TV's that small !)
Ensuite toilet constantly running
Hot water fades in out. Hot water system actually blew up in collegues room.
Bathroom door would not stay closed
Only 1 staff member (owner/manager) ever seen in 3 days with the front office seemingly only open business hours.

I could go on and on.....

DO NOT STAY AT THIS PROPERTY

It appears that many of the units be permanently let to

Thank you for your comments. As we have just taken over this property we are in the process of making changes. Whilst I would be the first to ackowledge that we have a ways to go yet, I am surprised that you did not mention any of these issues to us during your stay yet felt that you should instead let everyone else know about something that we haven't been made aware of nor could we respond to or try to fix while you were still here.

You mentioned staying for 3 days - if the situation was as bad as you mention, why wait until after you leave to tell someone (and not the people who can make a difference during your stay)? All our apartments have flat screen LCD TVs, of standard 26" hotel size, so your comment about TVs smaller than a laptop could only be referring to the second (spare) TV in one of the bedrooms.

The property is old, but the Strata Company (Body Corporate) is taking steps to improve the appearance and upkeep (which has suffered in the past).

Your comment about the hot water system "blowing up" is malicious to say the least. Now that you mention it, I believe I know which group you were with. You also conveniently don't mention that we went out of our way to look after your group (as well as the person whose hot water system had the problem - and no it didn't "blow up" as you said), including the complimentary late check out etc.

On the whole, I will accept that we are not yet where I'd like to be in terms of our standards, but I would also dispute your comments as being somewhat biased and not totally fair. In fact, other groups within your field make comments to us about how satisfied they were with their stay.

I welcome you to contact me directly (as you have not had the courtesy to do so yet), but don't expect you to.

Thank you again for your comments, regardless of how they were made.

“Horrible”

Quest on Arlington was a disappointment. The oven (which was purchased in the 70's) barely worked (couldn't get it hot enough to boil water), the air conditioner sounded like a helicopter was about to take off in our living space, table chairs were about to fall apart, phone didn't work, couldn't get a hold of reception most of the time. In general the apartments are dated and aren't worth the money you pay. The pool was so small. More than 3 people in there would feel crowded.
