This an old hotel in the CBD district of Perth, We arrived at midnight to be told our room was on the 3rd floor { top floor} when i asked for direction to the lift I was told We Dont Have One. So I had to carry two 25kg suitcases 6 flight of stairs. Them there,s the air conditioning unit which sounds like theres a gale force wind blowing in the room, which keeps you awake til you turn it off. No room cleaning done for 3 days which was the time we stayed for. So no clean towls just had to used the same ones over and over again. Would I stay there again No No No
if i could rate it
I would give it 1/10

Room Tip: dont go there

I stayed at the Criterion Hotel Perth for 3 nights. For one the lift didnt work, the whole place was very dated, the rooms had cracks in the walls, the bathroom walls were all puttied up not repainted and looked very tacky. The shower took about 20minutes to find the right temperature, very hard to work out, im not sure if it was just my room that had that problem. If you plan to sleep while you are there then this hotel is not for you. You could hear EVERYTHING, the people in the room next to you, you could hear them have a shower or even wash their face. The corridors were so loud and the floor creaked, if someone was having a conversation down the hall or anywhere really you could hear exactly what they were saying. I got woken up so many times during the night. Not to mention the air conditioning was not even cool, I had it on the coldest it could go and I was still sweating in the room. Oh and the service was not the best either. Not a good experience, would not reccomend it to anyone! Not worth the money at all!

Room Tip: Dont stay here

“Good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

This hotel is close to everything and whilst dated the standard of accomodation is acceptable. After travelling for the previous 3 months in asia where service is paramount I found the standard of service at reception sadly lacking. When I checked out I paid the bill but at no time was I thanked for my custom or even more than acknowledged. I would not bother to return.

This Hotel looks impressive on the outside & is in a central location. The Rooms take you back to nineteen fifties Australia , with High Ceilings & Old Fashioned Doors. The Staff are friendly & helpful, but I would say overall it trades on its history poricewise. Beds are comfy. The Complimentary Welcome glass of Wine all guests are offered in the Ground Floor Restaurant is undrinkable! Big mistake on their part given the Wine region you are staying in!
Perth is a very expensive city..be warned! A third more expensive than NSW/Quuensland for example. $16-18 dollars for 2 glasses of wine in some places, yet $11-12 in Sydney.
WARNING; Some rooms at front of Hotel suffer from weekend Karoke Bar adjacent! We had to move rooms, Noise was horrendous. A Smaller room near back of Hotel was fine.had to make a fuss & ask for refund to get move.
When in Perth, a must are Swan River Cruise to Freemantle, Train to Cottesloe Swim & Fish & Chips on the beach & Cocktails at Sunset in the Indiana? Beach House. Kings Park is Superb on a nice day. Great Views.Burswood Casino(free Hotel shuttles), Trot Racing at Gloucester Park. A Beer at the Lucky Shag Pub by the Swan River. And use the free City Bus Service Red Blue & Yellow Lines Fantastic service & its FREE!! Loads of beaches & activity around Perth.

Room Tip: Use Rear, ask at Reception for Rooms unaffected by Karoke
